L.A. police look for ex-cop suspected in shootings (3 dead, cops & Irvine couple targeted)

A former Los Angeles cop who had allegedly warned he would target law enforcement in retribution for being fired is now suspected of shooting three officers early Thursday, killing one,

The shootings -- which come a day after Irvine, California, police named Christopher Jordan Dorner as the suspect in a double slaying there Sunday

The manhunt stretched from Los Angeles to San Diego He worked for the LAPD from 2005 until 2008.

Multiple law enforcement agencies linked Dorner, 33, to the shooting of two Riverside police officers in an ambush.... One officer died.

In addition to Thursday's shootings, Dorner is suspected of the February 3 deaths of Monica Quan and her fiance Keith Lawrence in Irvine, according to police there.

Quan, 27, was the daughter of retired Los Angeles police officer Randal Quan, Dobine confirmed to CNN.

In his letter, which was provided to CNN by an LAPD source, Dorner said Randal Quan handled the appeal of his termination. Dorner threatened Quan and his family as well as several other LAPD figures, and said his treatment at the agency's hands had ruined his life.

"I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own, I'm terminating yours," Dorner allegedly wrote,

The letter writer warned the officers to "look your wives/husbands and surviving children directly in the face and tell them the truth as to why your children are dead."

Dorner also threatened to use his Navy training against additional police officers who he said were involved in a continuing culture of racism and misconduct in the department.

I’ve had two CT scans during my lifetime that are in my medical record at Kaiser Permanente. Both are from concussions resulting from playing football. The first one was in high school, 10/96. The second was in college and occurred in 10/99. Both were conducted at Kaiser Permanente hospitals in LA/Orange county. These two CT scans should give a good baseline for my brain activity before severe depression began in late 2008.

My humble opinions after reading his manifesto.

He is quite literate, indeed college educated.

Although black, he does NOT have anything remotely resembling an entitlement attitude.

If you must buttonhole him, put him down as a former Officer of the Naval Security Force reserves.

It would be a mistake to "define" him as a liberal just from his list of people he likes and dislikes.

I think he is telling the truth about his mistreatment after crossing the thin blue line of the LAPD

He thinks of himself as having Honor, Integrity and Courage. That makes him particularly dangerous.

He is out for revenge now, and in the wickedest ways. He has sworn death to all those who opposed him, and death to their families. The civilian he killed was the daughter of the consul assigned to him by the LAPD.

So here we have an example of someone who advocates an assault weapons ban who has allegedly engaged in multiple murders. So all the folks saying that recent mass killings might be intended to support legislation against guns aren't as crazy as they may have seemed. We've got an example right in front of us if the "manifesto" is authentic of someone committing murders who has written a manifesto calling for an assault weapons ban.

Who knows if he is the only mass killer with that idea.
