NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Violent, thieving mobs have been making headlines across the country for the past few years, and now they have hit New York City.
And Maurice Dubois reported in this CBS 2 investigation, the teen mobs have left neighborhoods worried as businesses take matters into their own hands.
Judson Bennett, 78, recently ran into a violent group of teens – often described with the once-benign term “flash mob” – as he made his daily trip to buy a newspaper at his favorite news team.
“I’m approaching the newsstand, and then suddenly there is a tremendous force behind me,” Bennett said.
Bennett ended up with a broken arm.
“I was taken completely by surprise,” he said.
In New York and across the country, the mobs of kids – 20, 30, 40 or more — appear out of nowhere and suddenly charge a newsstand or convenience store.
They ransack, steal and wreak havoc with no consideration for customers, such as Bennett, who get in their way.
“They assemble, they do whatever it is that they’re going to do, and then they disassemble in a matter of minutes,” said Jon Shane, assistant professor of criminal justice at John Jay College. “By the time somebody recognizes what is happening or is injured, if the police are able to respond, it’s slow.”

That’s the Bumberg NYC. Ban smoking, disarm good citizens, no salt at restaurants, surround yourself with a small army of armed bodyguards, ban large sodas, etc. while black mobs riot uncontrolled in the city. And don’t walk alone on the street or subway or you could get raped, shot, stabbed or thrown in front of a moving train. Way to go Bloomberg you idiot.

I’ve been to that newsstand at 55th many times. It’s right across Broadway from Random House and close to Marvel Comics and other companies. Wouldn’t you think the large corporations nearby would have some clout to get this stopped? The newsstand owners are hardworking, honest, an courteous. They don’t deserve this treatment.
Actually - no one deserves to be treated this way... but Obama and team don't care about 'crime control' or 'criminal control' - they care about 'gun control' which means taking guns away from honest citizens.

The establishment is selling its moral superiority cheaply, I think their whole ball of yarn could unwind pretty fast, I’m calling an American Spring within a couple of years.
These type of mobs are an excellent answer to gun-grabbers who cry, “Why would anyone need a magazie that can hold (30, 10, 7, 2) rounds?”
They can also be used to show how ridiculous it is to think we should prevent violence by disarming law abiding citizens. Should cell phones be banned because gangs of thugs are abusing them in this manner?
That said, I wonder how many of these “flash mobs” are really organized through text messages, as opposed to just being started by a bunch of thugs gathering in their normal hangout spots.

I was just wondering what would happen if a store got some plastic pipe and placed nozzles in it aimed across the door,and then filled a container with paint under pressure.
Pull the lanyard, and everyone leaving the store is covered in red paint.
Might make these punks easy to find.

You know there is a real problem and a rot in society when you cannot speak the truth. These “flash mob” assaults are the perfect example.
It seems clear that I would be branded a racist for pointing out that the vast majority of people who participate in these things are people of color, and if there is no basis of fact in my claim, that would be true.
And, if I did say that, that does not mean that I think all black people are going to engage in that activity, nor does it mean that white people don’t. And it doesn’t mean I have any animus against black people who don’t engage in it, nor do I have any expectation that the average black person WOULD.
It simply means that every single case I have seen of this type of activity that has been documented has supported the observation that it is primarily carried out by blacks of both sexes between the ages of 10 and 30. If someone can send me video documentation that would refute that observation, I would gladly do so, because I certainly don’t take any pleasure in observing it nor do I derive any joy from it.
Quite the opposite. I find it depressing and sad.
