Japan’s Demographic Disaster
The Diplomat ^

Posted on 02/04/2013 5:44:53 AM PST by Perdogg

Last August, I wrote an article for The Diplomat that discussed some of the issues Japan is facing in relation to population decline. As I noted, the population has dropped for three years in a row. Recently, the Japanese government announced that the population decrease for 2012 is expected to be 212,000—a new record—while the number of births is expected to have fallen by 18,000 to 1,033,000—also a record low.

This is what the US occupiers wanted after World War II to prevent Japan from being a world power according to a book last year (heard on John Batchelor show).

Japan is overcrowded. This might not be a bad thing. They already have a big population outside of Japan. The Tokyo-Yokohama area is huge. Nothing but wall to wall apartments. This is about the only area in Japan which is not mountanious, the Kanto Plain.

The solution to the population problem in Japan will be robots.

To maintain stability, the rate of robot introduction must match or slightly exceed the population decline.

You are correct but this won’t help their retirees who are dependant on the young to pay for their retirement.

Soylent green.

Japan’s in a death spiral. At least, we’ll get a sneak peek as to what is in store elsewhere...

The only reason a population stabilization or decline is viewed as a “disaster” is because it means the Ponzi Scheme of the Welfare State that most “Western” countries (including Japan) have been saddled with collapses unless there is a continuous supply of young workers to prop it up. In the past, countries have gone through periods of population stabilization or moderate decline and it has not been an issue.

Yep. Japanese housing is a joke. Their average apartment is about to fit into my kitchen twice. An idea to take shower standing on a toilet boil to save place for bathroom is another marvel of Japanese architecture. As for idea of a Japanese upper middle class McMansion it is even more ridiculous. A single car garage and all 1.5 levels above your 3-series BMW is your home. I guess is is not easy to fit a few kids into these lifestyles.

It’s a little more complicated than that.

If you build infrastucture for a large population ... but then the population shrinks in size you still have to maintain that infrastructure, but with a much smaller tax base.

But, through it all, Japan will remain Japan.

They have not, and will not, allow vast numbers of immigrants to enter and take control of their country.

GOP elites and Dems try to convince us that 20 million unskilled Mexicans will make us a more fiscally secure country as they tap into SS, Medicaid, Medicare, etc having paid little into them.

One more example of politicians wanting reelection over doing what is best for the USA.

I know what the houses and apartments are like inside. I have a video of the babies kept in dresser drawers because there is no room for a crib. I always show it to people who thinks I’m crazy when I tell them about the lack of living space over there.

The fear of the individual for him/herself will always override the fear a person has for their nation, culture or society. That is why the Democrats win.

Japanese history shows that they are unlikely to allow a lot of immigrants into their country. I would look for them to ship more of their population out to other countries in a sort of stealth imperialism.

Despite the fact Japanese are blatantly racist they have a lot of muslim immigrants too. Some Japanese racial genetics calculated that Pakistanis are DNA siblings to a Japanese race and allowed lot of them to move in to revitalize their demographics. I’m not sure it has really contributed to a Japanese gene pool but it has affected a criminal situation for sure.

The problem is, they are poor travelers.

Unlike their Korean counterparts, I feel the Japanese have a superiority complex which rules out any form of real dialogue.

Here in Indonesia, you rarely see the Japanese venture from their own circle, whether it be schools, supermarkets, or territory.

The beauty of the "Korean Revolution" is that they have embraced "multiculturalism" whilst stubbornly sticking to the teachings of their own culture by NOT allowing the government, the media, the UN or even education to dictate to them who or what is Korean.

When I was there they shipped out a lot of Africans when their economy went sour. The Africans were doing jobs that were beneath the average Japanese. They canceled their visas and gave them 90 days to leave the country.

All the Asian cultures are unbelievably racist. Not just against groups vastly different than them but especially against each other.

It depends what you mean by "Racist"?

Just because Asian nations don't want to be taken over by foreign religions, cultures, or dare I say it "skin" tone doesn't make them "racist".

Or does it?

Well, I can only speak from my experiences with Asian in-laws and their friends. Typically, they don't like any other Asian person UNLESS the choice is a white, black or hispanic person--(:

My MIL is from Thailand and I've gotten the low down on every other Asian group. Dirty Laotians, criminal Cambodians...you get the picture.

It was quite eye opening to me as I grew up on a steady diet of NYS public education kumbaya, only whitey is racist.

But, I have learned a valuable tool. If I go into an Asian owned business, I find a way to sneak into the conversation that my kids are part Thai--I immediately get better treatment. (:
