It was from one of Americas female veterans who served in Iraq, delivered with a first hand, been there, done that background. The Marine in question who for purposes of publication will go by the pseudonym of Sentry had previously submitted this history and opinion as a comment at National Review, but her story was compelling enough that I checked into her background, contacted her and decided to republish it here in its entirety
Lastly, this country and our military are NOT prepared to see what the enemy will do to female POWs. The Taliban, AQ, insurgents, jihadis, whatever you want to call them, they dont abide by the Geneva Conventions and treat women worse than livestock. Google Thomas Tucker and Kristian Menchaca if you want to see what they do to our men (and dont google it unless you have a strong stomach) and then imagine a woman in their hands. How is our 24/7 news cycle going to cover a captured, raped, mutilated woman? After the first one, how are the men in the military going to treat their female comrades? ONE Thomasina Tucker is going to mean the men in the military will move heaven and earth to protect women, never mind what it does to the mission. I present you with Exhibit A: Jessica Lynch. Male lives will be lost trying to protect their female comrades. And the people of the US are NOT, based on the Jessica Lynch episode, prepared to treat a female POW the same way they do a man.
I say again, I would have loved to be in the infantry. I think I could have done it physically, I couldve met almost all the male standards (jumping aside), and I think Im mentally tough enough to handle whatever came.

Sentry is correct - and that is the way it is.
But Wash DC wants distraction - and this is yet another perfect “emotional” distraction from what POTUS is doing to the US as a whole///
Plain old common sense. Sentry is right on.
Sentry is telling it like it is. Of course, it will be ignored by the media. All I hear is how “another glass ceiling has been shattered”. IMHO, shatter that glass ceiling, and you shatter the entire military.
Wife served her 2 years in the ‘90s. Says hygiene is an obvious issue but not discussed much.
Common Sense is something that is sorely lacking in the united States today.
Common Sense would tell us we cannot borrow our way out of debt or keep printing money that has nothing behind it.
Common sense would tell us that a child raised by two freaks is likely to end up a freak.
Our glorious “leaders” think front line combat is easier?
IDIOTS!
And what kind of society are we when there are able bodied men, 24 years old, sitting in their underoos all day playing XBox, that we are so desperate to throw women into combat? Chivalry is dead? The devil and the left hope so.
Common Sense....Should be made a mandatory course in all
schools.
Apparently women don’t really care. They will disrupt where they can. Why? Stuck on stupid!!
Who would teach it? Very few teachers in the public schools with common sense, themselves.
LMAO Who would teach it, the Principal who suspended a kid for using his finger like a gun?
Or the female teacher who has sex with a 14 year old?
So lives will be lost on the altar of political correctness. That’s the way it is now, in the once-great United States.
Democrats are deathly afraid of fang-tooth raging feminazis.

If you were the POTUS and an enemy of the state wouldn’t you do the same so your terrorist allies could destroy your military in a war zone where the only way to fight effectively is by using their infantry? The libtards either want the United States overtaken by terrorist elements that they think will treat them like friendlies (but we know the end result of that don’t we?) or they are just too stupid to realize the end conseqsences Of their actions.

Women in Combat and the Gun Control are mere smoke screens for something going on the our government that this adminstration doesn’t want us to know about. Pur and simple.
The same point that I always make.
If women can compete on an equal playing field when it comes to combat, why can’t they in sports?
Female sports exist as protected second tier leagues. Why do we need title 9 if women are equal to men physically?
By all means, lets start co-ed highschool sports (without quotas) and see how many girls make the team.
The militaries purpose is not to ensure that everyone gets an equal career path.
But Wash DC wants distraction....
***
If only that were the case. But it is far more sinister than that; these people want to destroy our military, to make us sitting ducks.
In the current climate, ideology trumps reality 100%.
The reality set-—when we have to fight a “real” war (think Normandy, Okinawa, Chosin, Hue)-—is going to be horrific.
IMHO, shatter that glass ceiling, and you shatter the entire military.
&&&
Bingo! Their ultimate goal in this is to destroy the fighting capability of our military. They are hoping to chase out the real warriors and leave us with women and girly men.
Sentry is right on and very articulate. That’s a well put together argument.
