Saxby Chambliss, the Republican senator from Georgia, will not seek re-election in 2014, a GOP source said Friday.
A conservative voice in the upper chamber since 2002, Chambliss recently drew the ire of some activists to his right who took issue with his support for bipartisan compromise. He was a member of the "Gang of Six," which tried in 2011 to strike a bipartisan deal on reducing the federal debt.

Herman Cain or Allen West (Atlanta native) for 2014.
It will be a great weekend here in the Gaffer household...I have steadfastly complained about this RINO for a long time. Constant emails to his useless office, phone calls, and even a letter or two. Worthless piece of crap finally took note he’s toast.... Good riddance, RINO!
Good start to the weekend!
As a VERY displeased Georgia voter, I sent his office several notes about how upset I was after his “that’s not how Washington works!” statement.
I am SO glad he is not running again.
Time for him to retire.
We’ll celebrate here, as well.
I have copious, pansy-assed responses from that RINO to the many e-mails I’ve sent him over the past four years-—OUT TO PASTURE with ya, Saxby!
(FINALLY! Some GOOD news!)
Guess he saw the handwriting on the wall.
I just heard that son of a bitch’s radio spot. The SOB complained about contention in the House and then comment on how the Senate was the “saucer that allowed the milk to cool down”....that son of a bitch....that ‘saucer of milk’ is our hard work, our traditional American values, our morals....and he thinks it’s good to “let it cool” down.
F@ck him. Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out traitor!
Bad news is that he’s going to give Obama EVERYTHING he wants for the next 2 years.
He’s a Florida resident, though, and FL needs him.
“A conservative voice in the upper chamber since 2002”???
Shows how insane they are at cnn
We grow weary of days and weeks of never hearing or reading one word of truth.
Could be easy pickings for the Tea Party!
On the surface it is indeed good news. Yet we need to be careful what we wish for. Case in point the Hoosier State: a long time Rino primaried out, with the victorious conservative going on to lose in the general election. Another possible storm cloud -- how close to tipping purple are Georgia's demographics? Is it to the point where the Rats can carry Atlanta and not have to worry about the rest of the state?
It depends on how soon the illegals get the right to vote. They could tip Georgia.
He has always struck me as a *Mr. Establishment* type.
Yes!!
I heard some democRATs crow that this can be a 'RAT "pick up"... please tell me this CANNOT happen in Red State Georgia!
I heard some democRATs crow that Chambliss' seat "could be a great pick up" for them... please say that can't happen in Georgia!
