It actually occurred to me that they might try to take the money and run, and hide behind some fine print in the vendor contracts. I must not think much of this Reed outfit.

Not sure you are right about that! This cancellation under the circumstances also shows “the Left” how galvanized the decent people of this country are as regards the Second Amendment. Think about the RAT’s (particularly those in the Senate) who will have to stand for election in less than two years. My guess is that there are more than a couple who are crapping their pants right now. FUBO may well have met the “immovable object” here. It will be interesting to see how his “favorables” fare in the coming months.
Actually, they are probably right. But they pulled the rug out from under the show when they acted on their insight. Right now hunting and fishing is not at the top of armed people's lists of concerns. Gun grabbing is.
No offense intended Salamander. MSRs. They may as well have said Military Style Rifles. Remember they are NOT sporting at all if it takes you 30 rds to drop a deer. (I kind of think that FWS frowns on that in the first place and we (collectively) would be in a “non-compliance” situation if we did go in to the field thus equipped.) These people are clueless. Was doing some research on the history of the 2nd amendment. Found the following comments about the individual states ratification process very interesting.

Baron Von Steuben, Washington’s Inspector General, had already proposed such a force.[164] The fear was that creation of a select militia, armed by and loyal to the federal government, would be accompanied by disarmament of the people in general.
V. The Ratification Process
The State Conventions
In Pennsylvania, James Wilson argued against adding a bill of rights on grounds already offered by Madison,[170] that such an enumeration was unnecessary and indeed dangerous since no person could enumerate all the rights of men.[171]
Pennsylvania ratified, but a substantial minority drafted a series of proposed amendments that included the following:
That the people have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and their own State or the United States, or for the purpose of killing game; and no law shall be passed disarming the people or any of them unless for crimes committed, or real danger of public injury from individuals.[172]
It is doubtful that the Pennsylvania minority was attempting to constitutionalize hunting as a sport.[173] Rather, the delegates were attempting to eliminate the possibility that game laws, used effectively in England at different points to disarm the population, would not produce a similar result in America.
Samuel Adams made similar arguments in Massachusetts.[174] The argument that adoption must precede amendment prevailed.[175] In Virginia, Madison secured ratification, but George Mason, Patrick Henry, and Richard Henry Lee were successful in having the convention adopt a Declaration of Rights which was to be recommended to the First Congress for adoption as constitutional amendments.[176] The right of the people to keep and bear arms (p.1031)was included as was the statement that a militia composed of the body of the people was the natural and safe defense of a free state.[177]
North Carolina’s convention proposed that a declaration of rights be added to the Constitution which explicitly identified the right of people to keep and bear arms as a natural right and one of the means necessary to the pursuit and obtainment of happiness and safety.[178] Identification of the right was accompanied by the statement that the militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the natural and safe defense of a free state.[179]
The North Carolina convention refused to ratify the Constitution until the document included this and other rights.[180] North Carolina did not ratify the Constitution until the Bill of Rights was drafted and submitted to the States.[181] Rhode Island followed an identical course by identifying the right of the people to keep and bear arms as a natural right, among others, and declining to ratify the Constitution until after the Bill of Rights had been drafted and submitted.[182]
To summarize the state ratification process, three states, New York, New Hampshire, and Virginia, ratified while expressing their understanding that the people had a right to bear arms and that Congress would never disarm law abiding citizens.[183]
Two states, North Carolina and Rhode Island, refused to ratify until individual rights, including the people’s right to keep and bear arms, (p.1032)were recognized by amendments.[184]
In Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, an effort was made to amend or condition ratification on amendment to include, among others, the right to keep and bear arms.[185] Efforts to amend were defeated but not on the merits. There is no evidence from any state convention that any speaker suggested that the proposed Constitution would permit disarming the public.

Reed had a ton of revenue lined up for this show, something north of $13 million. By postponing, they can hold onto the Vendors table money for awhile, but eventually they will have to refund since the show will never be held.
A new show will emerge next year, put on by some other company. Reed’s President will soon be leaving to “pursue other interests”

My gut feeling (which I’m usually wrong) is the ban will fail. They will get something they can claim victory on, and we’ll lose some freedom, but it won’t be anything like 1994.
MSR means Modern Sporting Rifles since they used that same term earlier in the statement.
Progessive (a George Soros associated company) was a sponsor of ESOS. GEICO canceled the policy of a Montana man because his company is associated with weapons manufacture.
The “atmosphere” that the show’s organizers are concerned about is the sound of crickets in an exhibition hall that is 80% empty. Kudos to those exhibitors who pulled out even though they weren’t directly affected by the ban. They realize that if they stand silent while the vendors of the so-called “assault” rifles are banned, that it will be the handgun, long rifle and shotgun vendors who will be next on the chopping block.
The left are very skilled in their divide-and-conquer approach. They rarely try to demolish a tradition on the first try. They focus on the easy targets and if they get away with that, they then go after the next target. At some point the entire edifice collapses because the foundation has been gradually weakened. Look what has happened with homosexual marriage. First it was, strike down laws that criminalized sodomy. Then it was special protection for homosexuals in employment, housing, etc.. Then laws criminalizing “homophobic” “hate speech”. Then they started going after private organizations such as the Boy Scouts and churches. Then it was a progression from “don’t ask, don’t tell” to complete removal of the ban on homosexuals in the military. Then homosexual adoption of children. And now we’re seeing the push for homosexual marriage, including marriages on US military bases and the National Cathedral. The final step will be outlawing any criticism of or resistance to the homosexual lifestyle, including the banning or forced editing of Bibles to remove any “offensive” content, and the seizure of children whose parents teach traditional morality. And all of this by people like Obama who just a few years ago said he was adamantly opposed to homosexual marriage.
It’s right out of the Alinsky playbook and it is the same strategy they have started to use against the Second Amendment. You either stand and fight here or the battle will be lost down the road. Do not accept the mantra that they are only after “assault” weapons. This is just the thin edge of the wedge.
Refunding money, they lost.
