The Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, also known as the Harrisburg Gun Show, has announced it will limit the type of firearms that it will allow to be exhibited. We have made the decision not to include certain products that in the current climate may attract negative attention, they posted on their website.
The hunting and fishing show, the largest consumer event in the nation, offers 1,200 exhibitors and will run from February 2 10, 2013, just outside of Harrisburg, PA.
A representative to the show told the Daily Caller that no specific information was available on the type of restricted product at this time and she offered to have someone call back with the information.
The National Rifle Association, in a statement through their Institute for Legislative Action, stated they strongly disagrees with Reed Exhibitions decision to ban Modern Sporting Rifles. The statement went on to urge you to follow the NRA and the outdoor industrys lead by voicing your displeasure with Reed Exhibitions both before and during the show and encourage them to reconsider their position.
The NRA is reconsidering their support of the show, The NRAs future participation in the Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show will be determined by Reed Exhibitions actions in response to the concerns raised by the NRA, the outdoor industry, and Americas law-abiding gun owners.
Facebook fans of the show are outraged. One fan writes, If you stand for and support the second amendment, then you would not allow your judgment to be clouded by the people who mean to do harm to the very foundation of this country. I and, my family, will not be attending. Fans have set up a page calling for a boycott of the show and have gotten support from 1,348 people since Tuesday.
While the show will not specifically tell the public what products are banned, the website Lancaster Online is reporting that AR style rifles and high-capacity magazines are the targeted products. Representatives from Kinseys Outdoors in Mount Joy and The Sportsman Shop in New Holland, which are both affected by the ban, said they were told by Reed officials they could not bring to the show for sale or display any AR-style rifles or ammunition magazines capable of holding more than 30 rounds, the site reported.
Reed Exhibitions, the events organizer, is based in Norwalk, CT., approximately twenty-five miles from Newtown where the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting took place.

Good. Spread the word.
Guns do not dominate the Sportsman's show, although it may seem that way to many if they are not around guns often. The show is divided up into multiple large rooms, typically with a major theme. There are outfitters for fishermen in one room. Outfitters for hunters in an other. Then there is the room with boats, another with ATVs and trucks. And yes, there are some displays of weapons. What is most noticeable to me are the darn turkey calls (I hunt turkey, so don't get me wrong) that cluck non-stop. and them there are the whirlpool tubs and home items that seem out of place.
I am not going to the show this year because of the ban on tactical weapons. I refuse to pay for parking and admission to an event sponsored by liberals. They will not get my money.
I do feel bad for the vendors, some of which have travelled from all corners of the global. I am not booking a trip this year, so I would only be there to kill some time and make it more crowded than it normally is.
If anyone posts on AR-15.com please post this information there. It may already have been posted there.
Vendors of assault style weapons should rent a nearby venue and set up signs saying where they are. Theyll gut the show and sell even more produc.
It was already posted on ar-15.com and on pafoa.org.
Outstanding. Thanks for the info.
What are dealers going to have to show? I’ve found exactly one AR in my neck of the woods and the price tag with no goodies is $2,000. My local gun store looks a post-Katrina New Orleans Best Buy..
It may be a bad move, but from a business point of view, the next several years worth of production is probably spoken for. Why pay all that money to be in a show and advertise what is already sold?
Duck Hunting Shotgun Proven To Be more Dangerous Than A Huldra AR-15
Given that anti-2nd Amendment factions seem to be basing their disdain for the AR-15 on appearances, let's make the AR-15 politically correct by giving 2A-hating liberals a dose of their own medicine as follows.
AR-15 owners need to feminize their AR-15s by painting it hot pink, trimming it with splashes of pink synthetic ostrich feathers, and referring to it as the "gay" AR-15. Then it will be off-limits to liberals. And I wish that I was being sarcastic, but remember that we're dealing with the liberal mindset.
The purpose of all this hype on guns is to keep the right and conservatives focused on what the Demo-Coms describe as issues through their propaganda arm known as the MSM (mainline socialist media) not on the problems created by the Libs on their road of good intentions or the socialist/fascists/communists successors to comtrol over todays Democrat party; Which is the cost ,waste, and corruption of his administration which had led to a 16 trillion dollar deficit.
Not one word will address or offer a solution about the hundreds of gangland murders and shootings using illegaly obtained mostly handguns and revolvers .Using code words like assault rifles which are really single shot per trigger pull semi automatic rifles, used for small game hunting or target practice. That are legal in every state but made to look like their military counterpart..Called AR’s since Viet Nam and a DOD decision ARs are really medium caliber (22.3) machine guns designed to wound not necessarilly kill which is why they are automatic and fire as many rounds that are in its magazine once the trigger is kept in the pulled position. .They replace quick kill 30 caliber semi automatic (single shot) M-1, Springfield rifles and carbines used during WWII and Korea and approved in most states for use in big game hunting.

Obama certainly cant critique a system created by his ilk .Ignored in his 23 edicts is that when once caught, perps get set free with lenient sentencing from liberal judges or sob sister plea bargain prosecution (which Obama supports for when a Illinois state senator while introducing legislation to sentence any 15 year old as an adult, Obama voted “absent” with others on roll call ) promoted by the MSM,The New York Times CNN, NBC and,ABC. Theres certainly no criticism of no snitch mentality partcularly in areas where these shootings are rampant.
Do potato guns attract negative attention? Free the spuds!
Here’s to the show being a bust.
British? Connecticut? There’s two strikes against you...
No point going then.
Never heard of it.
I suspect one of the behind the scenes reasons is that they cannot find any AR-15s to display. Sales in them are probably backlogged for the next few years.
Post 32 is correct. The anti-gun dog and pony show by Obama and the media is a diversion from our country’s biggest problem. Insane, out of control federal government spending and borrowing. This will break our economy and society quicker than just about all our other problems. Our government has turned into Zimbabwe on the Potomac River.
