The Obama administration is condemning an Islamist attack on a natural gas field in southern Algeria and confirming that Americans are among those being held hostage.
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told reporters in Italy that Americans were among the hostages and called the incident a "terrorist attack."

Latest: The hostage takers in Algeria are demanding the release of 100 Islamist prisoners, who should be taken they say to the northern Mali border, according to a worker present at the gas plant. SNIP
Don’t worry, Obama will trade the Blind Sheik and all the other Islamist prisoners for the Americans. Obama has been hoping for the opportunity to offer a prisoner exchange after the Benghazi plan didn’t work out so well. This time, they planned to take big bad oil workers instead of an ambassador in case it doesn’t turn out so well.
Dude, it's another outbreak of JIHAD.

They have their own allies and leaders being held by the Malian Army and the French special forces.
“terrorist attack”
Workplace violence? Man-made disaster?
Imagine how better the world would have been if the British backed the Hashemites instead of the Saudis.
Instead of these back-biting jihadi enablers we’d have a pragmatic ruler like Abdullah II of Jordan as king.
Gee, i wonder if there is going to be a Prisoner Exchange involving the Blind Sheik????
Gee, I wonder....
What? Did they tell ya that? Obama will add the Blind Sheikh into the deal.
We aren’t supposed to use the word “terrorism” anymore. This was a man caused disaster. Also, “islamist” is iffy too because it hurts their feelings.
For those who want to understand the different factions:
The MNLA are ethnic Tuareg Islamic militants who consider the northern half of Mali to be a separate Tuareg country called Azawad. They are fighting for a separate nation state.
Ansar Dine are ethnic Tuareg Islamic militants who want all of Mali to remain united and to transform it into a Muslim theocratic state run by Tuaregs. Their leaders are dissidents from the MNLA.
AQIM are ethnic Arab Islamic militants who want all of Mali to remain united and to transform it into a Muslim theocratic state run by Arabs.
MUJWA are ethnically black (the Mande peoples) Islamic militants who want all of Mali to remain united and to transform it into a Muslim theocratic state run by Mande people and to expel the Arabs. Their leaders are dissidents who left AQIM.
The government of Mali is a majority Mande secular republic allied with France and part of La Francophonie (somewhat like the UK's Commonwealth).
That makes pretty close to zero sense.
It's a political firestorm for Obama that he does not need, and on which he will be legally challenged.
Moreover, what is going on in Mali has no direct connection to Egypt.
Again, why would this group put themselves out for an Egyptian government that has refused to help them? And which has no interest into starting a war with Algeria over Mali?
For Obama to introduce some ridiculous favor for Egypt - which is not even a party to this conflict - and introduce this randomly into a separate conflict, has no logic to it.
But Obambi could still urge his buddy “Jews are pigs and apes Morsi” to mediate the crisis, in exchange for the Sheik.
Oh come on, when has anybody or anyone stopped Obama? Today should have been a political firestorm. He does not care. The media will lie for him.
Maybe he did...???
Is this faction against faction or are they all fighting against secular govt?
Algeria?
panetta and zer0 work for the terrorists. Wonder when there will be calls to disarm the terrorists?
anyone noticed that ore Americans are being taken all over the world in these last couple of years, now if we had a non biased non corrupt media obama would be swept out of office with all this crap going on.
Praying for the hostages quick and safe release.
Thanks for adding this info.
