The blogosphere has exploded with outrage in response to news that Walmart is suspending ammunition sales in anticipation of the Obama administrations gun-control recommendations to Congress but the retail giant tells WND the reports arent true.
That information is inaccurate, said Ashley Hardie, a spokeswoman located at Walmarts corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Ark.
WND then asked whether the retail chain is cutting back on orders of ammunition.
No, Hardie said. Were continuing to serve our customers as we have in the past.
She said Walmarts ammunition sales policy has not changed, even amid talk of gun-control legislation in Washington, D.C.
The uproar began when the InvestmentWatch blog posted a story headlined, Breaking & confirmed: Walmart is not going to order any more ammo.
CNS News cited the report, and talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh mentioned it during his Monday show.
According to the InvestmentWatch report, a man claimed to have visited his local Walmart and noticed the store was out of almost every kind of ammo.

>>Either the Wal-Mart story was wrong to start with, or the company has decided to change back to their standard policy for ammo sales.
The original story had a WM manager picking up the phone to order some. That was pretty much a giveaway that it was somebody’s idea of a fun prank. It’s probably been several decades since chain stores ordered stuff that way - it’s all computerized now.
Photos on the net from all over of empty show cases with no ammo. Sold out.
Maybe New York will have some. They are trying to pass a law right now that you can’t own 10 or more firearms. What about collectors????
SPRAYING now! Have you no pity? You can’t be serious! ROTFL! My side hurts! STOP!! :D!!
Woulda turned a nice profit. They are selling for $400 a pop now.
It was great stuff. I would always have at least 3 cans of it in my camper at any given time.
End of K-Mart? Au contraire. They’re not gone. In fact they bought Sears. But they sure did shrink.
That makes sense but we'll see what these businesses do to minimize the fascist wrath thrown their way
Yes, and the shrinkage came after they stopped selling guns and ammo.
Yep.
If it wasn't true, the reaction will keep it from being true in the future.
Didn’t pass the smell test. All ordering at Walmart is done by computer, not by phone.
Seems like the US government is at war with it’s citizens, eh?
On my out of a recent gun show, I saw a box-grade Russkie on a table with a $1,700 price tag.
Actually they’d been struggling for years since the rise of Wal-Mart. And apparently c.2000 they had a major scandal with CEOs absconding with what money they had.
The Russian ones do bring a better price but $1,700?!!!
At any rate I miss being able to get cheap ammo and canned bacon there.
Walmarts is a smart capitalist company. They are not going to intentionally miss out on millions on the sale of legal goods. The story could have been second hand heresay.
The problem at Walmart’s ammo is that for this particular product, they haven’t much leverage in their routine “supply us first or we won’t carry” threats, so they must compete for ammo and they sell out most of any shipment within a few hours. Guess you gotta be friends with the Ammo Counter Guy.
I suspect this is a distribution issue.
It shows the American Psyche.
Tell us we can’t have something or supplies are limited and the race is on to get it.
At least the gun and ammo manufacturers are going to have a good year this year.
OK, but do they still have the canned bacon?
