Baseball star Andruw Jones has been arrested for allegedly beating his wife on Christmas morning. Jones, 35, was booked into the Gwinnett County jail outside Atlanta, Georgia, about 3.45am today on a charge of simple assault.
Jones won the Golden Glove award ten times in a row between 1998 and 2007 for his performance in the outfield for the Atlanta Braves.

Sadly, if he hit her, his Golden Glove award should be the Golden Gloves Award. (headline edited to fit)

This is a strange story. On Christmas morning?
To: ConservativeStatement
I just want to know who was the illiterate that chose to spell his name Andruw and not Andrew like it is supposed to be spelled?
To: Blue Highway
I’m not blaming the author for a typo, as I know his name is spelled Andruw. Just wondering what the hell his parents or family was thinking to name him with that spelling.
To: Blue Highway
I don't think he was born in the U.S., though I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the spelling.

Just wondering what the hell his parents or family was thinking to name him with that spelling. Jones was born in the Netherlands Antilles. That's the Dutch spelling of Andrew.

In 2001, he testified in the prostitution case against an Atlanta strip club owner. While Jones was never charged, he said that he was invited to the Gold Club and that he was propositioned for sex by two strippers.
He testified under oath that he had sex with both the women in front of the club's owner and six other men.
Nice guy.

I just checked the NY Post and it is trending as the number two story on that site.

Hey, and very equitable about the strippers! Instead of choosing one, he gave them an equal opportunity to serve him. In front of witnesses, too, so neither one could complain he was unfair about it.

Very sad. I followed Andruw’s career while he was with the Braves and he is one naturally talented young man who totally wasted the gifts God gave him.
To: NotSoFreeStater
curacao? i doubt he will be the butt of many redneck jokes, then

Astounding lack initiative in answering one’s own questions here. These folks ever heard of Google?

Didn’t he just sign on with a Japanese League team? We know that ball players here in America can do just about anything short of a felony with no undue circumstances, but the real story line here has to be what affect this will have on the Japanese contract.

Yes. In the article:
Jones signed a $3.5 million, one-year contract with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan’s Pacific League earlier this month.

Anybody want to bet he’s hopped up on steroids?? Who in their right mind is up at that hour on Christmas morning, unless their kids woke them up? Sounds like typical behavior for these ex or current professional athletes.
