News Corp. chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch expressed support for an automatic weapons ban tonight following today's shooting in Newtown, Conn.
"Terrible news today. When will politicians find courage to ban automatic weapons?," Murdoch wrote on Twitter.
Murdoch made a similar call following the theater shooting in Aurora, Colo., in July: "We have to do something about gun controls. Police license okay for hunting rifle or pistol for anyone without crim or pscho record. No more," he tweeted.
News Corp. owns Fox News, where contributors have been objecting to calls for gun control throughout the day.
Lots of booklets out there tell how...guess we need to ban books.

Technically they aren’t banned, correct. In practice they are all but banned. First there are significant hurdles to jump through before you can buy one legally.
Secondly, the restrictions on which weapons can be purchased have caused their prices to skyrocket. Putting them out of reach for the majority of the population.
This ignorant limo-liberal elitist does not connect the Left’s effor to ban Fox to their effort to ban the second amendement. Banning the constitution is the Leftist “liberal” cause. Going Chi-com like GE?

I am willing to make one, and only one, exception to the First Amendment when it comes to political speech. I believe that once you have an armed bodyguard you should be required to keep your piehole shut about access to firearms. I’m pretty sure Rupert has an armed bodyguard.

Criminals and assassins often use guns to commit their crimes because they are in fact the most effective and also most convenient means to their ends.
They are also the most effective way to prevent criminal activity and this is not just for convenience.
Even if we lived in a total dictatorship with all weapons banned, the criminal element would still find all the weapons they would ever need.
I have read that one reason Robert Bruce defeated the English at Bannockburn despite being outnumbered 3 to 1, was that many of the Scottish fighters used their farming tools as weapons. Since they used them on a daily basis they were very familiar with how they handled.
A screwdriver makes a fine dagger, a kitchen knife works on people too. A bucket of gasoline and a match would likely kill everyone in a schoolroom. An axe is a fearsome weapon as is a short shovel, a pitchfork or a hiking stick.
Gun control not only doesn’t prevent crime, it helps the criminal element while harming the innocent.
I do not intend to turn my guns over either, assuming that I have any which would be made illegal.
On the other hand I also don’t intend to stand in the door with my rifle and dare them to come and get them.
The whole subject could spark a lot of ideas and discussions. I don’t think the old “I lost them in a boating accident” would work either.
Saying I needed the money and sold them at gun shows etc. might be believed. I am sure others have better ideas than I do as to elude them. In the end it just might be a firefight which I know I would lose but there would be a lot of ideas tried before it came to that.
If I and a lot of others made the job too dangerous that might be enough, even tho many of us would lose our life.
Or Mr. Murdoch, no amount of gun control laws would have stopped a demon possed gun shooter who was intent on slaugthering little children and their teachers.
