Ms Conte called the ordeal 'sad' for Lanza and his family, and suggested that the violence is a portion of a much larger situation.
'Guns are easy to point to, but it's really a mental health issue.'

I agree. Also see the problem with who gets to define ‘crazy’....Obama’s fascist goons would probably define conservatives as ‘crazy’ and lock us up first. But at some point common sense has to rule. Most people know when their kid is ‘off’......don’t put guns in their hands!! People who are violently mentally ill...should be put in secure institutions. We have people roaming the streets who have long histories of violent mental disturbances and their families can’t do anything!
We can’t put them away because of ridiculous liberal laws.
I think we are going to find that this mother was a little screwy herself...sadly.
Think about the dozens of toddlers who got daddys gun.
**************
This wasn’t a daddy’s gun thing. Everything I’ve read is the weapons belonged to the mother, were legal and registered in her name. Also that she was an avid shooter, etc.
So again how are you going to hold the owner accountable now that she is dead?
I sense you are sane and responsible ... given you are in a rural or semi rural area.
So many toddler gets daddy’s gun situations are urban and the gun is in the top drawer while the baby is lying on the bed.
You’re smart, you know when it’s safe.
I can’t believe people are posting from the Daily Mail. They are known mainly for posting articles showing fannies and breasts of the latest plastic surgery of so called celebrities to keep them in the news.
Look around you, 80 percent of the world is a little screwy.
He’s 15, and every polite word out of his mouth sounds as programmed and scripted as could be. I don’t trust him one eentsie little bit.
Not at all! They are a [mostly] conservative British tabloid ... in Britain they are all tabloids.
They routinely post anti-Obama stuff that never shows up in US papers.
Perhaps you are thinking of the lesser Brit tabloids.
I'm perfectly willing to consent to letting you carry a concealed weapon inside or outside of your house, as long as it is locked inside a safe which you - and only you - have the combination. You can even put the safe on wheels and tow it behind you on a public thoroughfare. Sound reasonable? If I'm being too lax, I'm also willing to make you store the ammunition at a separate location under penalty of imprisonment and confiscation of all your assets.
This fair, commonsense proposal is subject to change, as I may arbitrarily determine that you don't have a legitimate reason to own a gun anyway.
Mr. niteowl77
I’m thinking because guns get stolen, as in this case, wrestled free from the owner, that to fire they should be owner coded to fire. Would that be impossible?
I’m not talking about this school shooting.
I’m talking about many past events of toddlers getting their parents guns.
Think!
I think it was pointed out the shooter did not own the weapons, but his mother did. IOW, he may have been crazy, but he didn’t own a gun either. It’s assumed his mother was not crazy, so what would you do? Disarm her or anybody else related to a crazy person, just to be “safe?”
The "kid" was 20 years old, IE an adult. Adults killing kids is, unfortunately, nothing new, even if charging into a school is.
BTW, girls play many of these games and watch many of these movies too. Why aren't they charging into classrooms and shooting up the place before killing themselves? Maybe it's time to stop blaming race, religion, political affiliation, etc., and start asking why so many males are doing this?
It’s not unusual that the left seizes on this tragedy to urge `throwing the baby out with the bath water.’ They do it every time.
There are 300 million Americans and about 90 million responsible gun owners. About half the country sees the Bill of Rights as negotiable. I don’t have the citation for those figures but believe they are close.
A handful of Americans with mental problems meet irresponsible gun owners and a perfect storm results. Those are the problems right there: mental disease and irresponsibility. Liberalism is a mental disease and liberals—by definition—are irresponsible, fiscally and morally.
If the left wants a cataclysmic storm (def. a momentous and violent event marked by overwhelming upheaval and demolition; broadly: an event that brings great changes) they can keep banging their little drums.
`Gun control’ isn’t about guns. It’s about control. We all know that. And just as Mr. Day-oh! urges his Lord and Savior to jail conservatives, there are many of us who believe liberals should be (clearing throat) controlled.
Thanks for bringing us together, pResident Obama! Rant over.
“Does the federal government have crazy people in it?”

Ol’ Joe down at the sawmill said, “Iffen sum ubbem ain’t crazy, they shore is some danged good actors.”
If you read this thread, which clearly you did not. And you are trying, and succeeding to be a wise*** but I said people are capable of understanding their situation accordingly.
Are you a single parent with a handgun that you leave in a drawer? Is your toddler able to reach that drawer? We have seen this a lot in recent years.
But I doubt you can grasp that nuance.
Bingo. The libs have been attempting to use government-control as a replacement for self-control for 50 years. It fits within their exaltation of the group and the diminution of the individual. We are now seeing the results.
That sure would have screwed up me using my brother's pistol to thwart a robbery, or my daughter using my pistol to kill a rattlesnake.
All of my family knows everyone else's weapons and will use them as required. Don't go throwing a wrench into the works because you are scared.

Read the thread. I can’t help you beyond that.
What do you want to do to daddy?
