Facilities are closing all over the US and commitment is becoming more and more difficult every day.

Sure there are mental health facilities. The burden beyond self committal is so onerous that a you have to be both crazy and retarded to be committed.

I guess they ask the question is he/she a danger to himself or society. If the joker in Colorado didn’t meet the requirement who does?

I guess you have to have to crap in one hand then while eating it shoot a weapon at a politician with the other.

Interesting that you mention this.

Only about a mile and a half from the elementary school in Sandy Hook is the now-closed Connecticut State Psychiatric hospital.

Years ago, if someone was having mental problems, they’d get sent off “to Newtown”. I had an aunt that spent a little time there (she came out of it).

Just empty buildings now, fenced off...
