Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter
SH: So are you saying that, for PR purposes, that they should give in to Obama on the tax rate?
AC: Not exactly, I--Well, yeah, I guess I am.
SH: You're saying capitulate to Obama? We don't have a revenue problem, Ann.
AC: We lost the election, Sean.
Hannity seems genuinely flummoxed by Coulter's capitulatory attitude, but does she have a point? Recent polling has been gruesome for Republicans. Not only does an overall double-digit plurality favor raising taxes on "the rich," support for extending all current tax rates has plummeted by nearly 30 percentage points in two years...among self-identified Republicans. Foot soldiers? They have both done some good stuff but in the end it’s just a lucrative game to them but a game nonetheless.
Where do you see acapesket making that point in his comment to me?
Here is what he posted to me:

Complaining about this nation not being able to be able to afford ANY tax cuts would be a completely different point, an argument that Republicans are NOT making in their opposing the tax cut for the 98% and neither is Rush, Hannity or Norquist who are just mad because their taxes will go up.
No. this sour grapes loser is whining that his taxes will go up and its my fault because I am suggesting that the GOP pass a bill extending SOME of those tax cuts to avoid committing suicide.
Nope, Their ‘ principled ’ argument is “No tax cuts for thee if there is none from me”, There is NO principle in this. That is just pure evil envy.
A Coulter/Hannity debate? What? What could possibly be more vacuous?
She’s still nuts.
I never could stand her but she was FR’s golden child for years. Glad people are finally seeing her true colors.
That’s just plain stupid. The GOP won the election in the House, so the far left should cave to us. It’s not going to happen, but it’s as logical as us caving to the far left fringe.
i could give em the benefit of the doubt on whether its priciple or envy...but it really is stupid to set themseves up for total failure/capitulation...
unless the end game is really just to build a lil suspense to keep the audience buyin popcorn and action figures of the kabuki players on stage...
the votes arent there to save the 2%...so take what you can get on principle, and immediately push the next vote to save the 2% and record the 'NO' votes...
but again, its just theatre...
What’s new about this? We cave when we WIN the election.
Is Ann Coulter now dating Charlie Crist? / sarc

Steve Forbes Urges Boehner: No Tax Increases, Just Fight for Renewal
Friday, December 7, 2012 05:54 PM
By: Bill Hoffmann
John Boehner is making a big mistake by calling for tax increases by closing deductions and he shouldn’t be trying to make majore reforms in the short time left before the fiscal cliff is upon us, Steve Forbes has told the House Speaker.
Instead Forbes, the influential CEO of Forbes Inc. and editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine, has formulated a plan spelling out what Republican lawmakers must do now to stop the country from falling off the fiscal cliff.
“Mr. Speaker, we are losing the cliff war in terms of public opinion, but the tables can be turned, Forbes writes in an open letter, posted on Forbes.com just hours after Boehner emerged from negotiations with Democrats to say that no progress” had been made.

The electorate voted for Obama. The republicans will be blamed for any economic disaster that happens UNLESS they give him all he asks for. Then Obama will completely own it and the voters will see the folly of voting for socialism. It’s extreme, but I think that she may have a point.
Obama made a major issue of raising those taxes, Republicans put up Romney to be the poster-boy for lowering those taxes. I know, how could that POSSIBLY go wrong? Well it did.
So O got re-elected and he picked up seats in both houses, especially in the Senate where Republicans were set to win seats.
So now the taxes are set to go up automatically. (as they were two years ago.) So there's been few articles posted here saying that the House Rs should refuse to extend the tax cuts to the 98% (and its really everyone's fractional income OVER $250K) in separate bill, and that 98% voters (of the 53%+) will blame Obama for their tax increases and think it was him that did it.
And these threads are actually getting comments claiming that they REALLY believe that Obama will get blamed.
If they were making an HONEST argument that would be one thing, but claiming that O will get the blame for Republicans holding back is not the least bit honest.
"The media is in Obama's pocket so if Republicans hold firm on (against cutting those) taxes the voters will blame Obama for their taxes going up because they all (voters) are Rush fans and that is what he will say happened and they will believe him"
That is what makes it so strange to see them disagree,
Coulter fell into the terminology trap that both parties are using : that the GOP must either vote for tax increases or against them
But this is not true, the tax increases are automatic. So as I been recommending the House should send the Senate two tax cut extension bills : One for <$250K of income, the other >$250K of income. And then take credit for protecting Americans from taxes. Obama has already threatened to veto his own tax cut proposal, so call his bluff.
There was a bright moment in the debate that I saw: Coulter screeched at Hannity :
“What principle? Raising taxes on 98%? What principle is that?”
Stupidity or maybe ignorance. It's ironic. I think taxes are going up for some income levels. Obama wants to use the "rates vs.loopholes" argument (among other things) to divide the GOP and destroy it once and for all.
