The USS Eisenhower, an American aircraft carrier that holds eight fighter bomber squadrons and 8,000 men, arrived at the Syrian coast yesterday in the midst of a heavy storm, indicating US preparation for a potential ground intervention.
While the Obama administration has not announced any sort of American-led military intervention in the war-torn country, the US is now ready to launch such action "within days" if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad decides to use chemical weapons against the opposition, the Times reports.

8,000 men on a carrier?
Really?
Typical crew of a Nimitz-class carrier. No reports of Marine amphibious landing ships, so no indications of a landing force, just air ops.
Consider the source: Russia Today (the propaganda arm of the Russian government).
Excuse me, but if Assad violates no borders, why is it our business ?? Yes, it will suck to be the Syrian Rebels, but it is NOT OUR FIGHT. . .
Bama gonna start another unauhorized congressional war in the middle east........hmmmmmmmmm
And, gee, December 21 is not far away. I’m starting to get a VERY bad feeling. . .
I can’t believe Assad would be dumb enough to give us a pretext to “intervene” (not that we have any reason to do so, but Obama is supporting the jihadis...excuse me, “freedom fighters”) but clearly we’re hoping he will.
I suspect there will be a chemical weapons attack, since we’re setting this up as an excuse, but it will probably be launched by jihadis who have managed to get their hands on something. I read in an earlier press report that some of the supposed army bombings of Islamist strongholds in Syria were actually attacks carried out by the “rebels” themselves on their own areas, particularly, as usual, schools or public buildings, blaming the Assad forces in order to stir up hysteria and build up support. Sound familiar?
Obama wants every country in the ME to fall to Islamists.
A few sources list the Nimitz class as having a ship’s complement of 3,200 plus a little over 2,600 for the embarked squadrons.
The Marines should be on board the ships of an amphibious squadron, usually and LHA or LHD plus several LSDs and LPDs.
Assad knows he’s a dead man.... So he is going to try to take as many as he can with him..
I say let’s stay out of this and let them kill eachother. If we enter this with forces, it will bite us in the as$ like always.
having served on board two carriers, the number 8,000 seems pretty exagerated.

YOu are so right here. This is not our issue.
I agree with your theory that Assad is being set up.
The recent reports in the news about chemical weapons in Assad’s control are merely laying the groundwork for a REBEL chemical weapons attack on the Syrian people, only to be blamed on Assad. How would we, the American public, know any differently? Who, in the colluding media, will report the truth? The chemical attack will precipitate the full involvement of the US military.
Obama wants Assad out NOW!

I love the way you think.
Exactly. If they attack Israel, the rules change... but if they're hosing down terrorists from the muslim brotherhood, al-Qaida and Ansar al-(fill-in-the-blank)... why again does that matter to us?
Unfortunately, we're having to look at foreign media sources, because the propaganda arm of the American government can't be trusted to report anything factually.
See, I told George Noory old Marvin the Mayan knew his stuff! KYAG!
