CNSNews.com) - The federal government has now borrowed more money during Barack Obamas time as president than it did in the period lasting from the time President George Washington took the oath office until July 2, 2001, more than five months into the first term of President George W. Bush.
At the close of business on Jan. 20, 2009, when President Barack Obama was inaugurated, the national debt stood at $10,626,877,048,913.08, according to the Treasury. At the close of business this Thursday, it stood at $16,323,083,449,604.98.
That means the debt has increased $5,696,206,400,691.90 during Obamas presidency.
On July 2, 2001, more than five months after President George W. Bush entered office, the national debt was $5,693,220,327,798.14, according to the Treasury. By the close of business on July 3, 2001, it had risen to 5,698,195,769,465.40. Since then, the debt has never again dropped below $5,696,206,400,691.90the amount it has increased in less than one full term of Obama.
(Between late 1999 and the middle of 2001, as federal revenues sometimes exceeded expenditures, the debt fluctuated back and forth over the $5.696 trillion mark--only to finally pass that threshold, without retrenching, between July 2 and 3, 2001.)
another point that is often overlooked is that during Bush, the congress was fully democrat controlled and even though the executive branch can spend a lot, and even alame duck president has veto power congress must authorize it
bttt
GWB looks a lot better by comparison than BHO, based on what you posted. FWIW, 80% of the debt increase between 2001-2009 happened when Democrats controlled one or both houses of Congress.
Well that is encouraging.

only one person I have heard mention this and that was Beck anout a year ago on FOX which was replaced by that awful show called the five.
Is that actually still on?
Sometimes Beck went over the top but he had balls to mention what oabma was up to , what the elft were doing and he called them out on their lies.
Who do we have today, Hannity , oh please the man can;t even mention social issues or homosexuals marrying at west point.
Rush while good is not investigative.
I’m sick of our side like MCcain who state this about Libya “ well the President mislead the public”
Mislead, hell no he lied and still does, Hell we do not even know where obama was when the attacks happened or if he went to sleep during the attacks or if he watched the attaks in the situation room.
We will lose in 2016 again unless we call out this corrupt media and take on the left like the GOP takes on our own side like Newt, Sarah Col West etc.
All of the 1963 commie rules have nearly all been done., why is no one mentioning this
http://www.uhuh.com/nwo/communism/comgoals.htm
Everyone please rtead that and go rule by rule and see how much they have done since 63 and our side have done nothing.
PC was invented to shut our side up to pass their agenda.
Bully laws were done to stop ayone saying anything to the school fairy boy who thinks he;s a girl and states he;s a queer.
Hate laws were done to stop people saying or defending themselves against minorities
and some on our side still shut up and some still say we shoudl ignore the media and even one troll earlier, a re-tread made mocking comments to another freeper becasue they freeper trusts the Bible
How convenient for us to blame Obama for the huge deficits of the last four years, as though we had nothing to do with it. I see the deficit chart here, which is very interesting and tells part of the story, but I don’t see a spending chart or a revenue chart. What i have heard is that spending has increased under O about the same as under Bush, but that revenues have fallen mightily. In any event, we seem to be forgetting that O is not a dictator, and that congress has to vote for our nation’s spending each year. It’s convenient to have a bogeyman, but everyone is looking at the wrong one. The real bogeyman is ALL OF US. We demand enormous benefits from our government, freebies, massive military far beyond any major group of countries combined, massive government pensions of all kinds, unlimited medical care, highways, electricity, wars, AND WE REFUSE TO PAY FOR IT. The surest way to get elected in America for the last thirty years of so, or probably longer, has been to promise “free” benefits from the government that you don’t even have to pay more taxes to get. Even better, someone hit on the idea a while back of convincing people that they could get these increased benefits AND a tax cut at the same time, if we just voted for the right politician, because after all, the budget would balance itself anyway. Never mind that it never did. We fed our hearts on fantasy, and we are reaping the whirlwind.
Bush allowed the Democrat controlled Congress to walk all over him after they won in 2006, no argument there. Unfortunately, reaching across the aisle instead of calling out the Dems before this helped lead to the Dem takeover. So even though I don’t blame Bush for our current problems, this is why I keep saying “READ MY LIPS. NO NEW BUSHES.”
