After Hurricane Sandy hit along the New Jersey Shore and throughout New York City, President Obama traveled to the affected area and delivered a message to both victims and the federal government, advising the fed to use “no bureaucracy, no red tape … get resources where they’re needed as fast as possible.” To the victims, he promised assistance. “We are standing behind you and we are going to do everything we can to help you get back on your feet.”
It was that same day that an emotional embrace between the president and a New Jersey businesswoman, Donna Vanzant, was caught on camera and shared around the world. It’s a photo of which Vanzant now says, “It’s frustrating for me that that picture is even out there right now.”

I used to harbor some sort of forgiveness for people who voted for 0 the first time around but I don’t anymore. I hope people like this suffer and I am sure that won’t be enough to change their minds, sadly.

Shame on her for believing promises from a man who continually breaks them. She can add this promise to the list of promises taped on her refrigerator (currently without electricity).
Well, yes. The potential liability is so high, private insurers won't touch flood insurance. That's why the Federal Flood Insurance program IS. (Which, technically, should be bankrupt or nearly so after Sandy.) The Federal program only covers up to a $250k loss for a residence and $500k for a business. Not much help for many, even if they had flood insurance.
I can't imagine the rates she'd need to pay to cover the flood insurance risk for a MARINA, which is in/on water to begin with.
Makes some sense for a business to maintain reserves to cover such eventualities. Or to move inland, if they can't handle the risk.
.... LOL .... when will the uninitiated into the world of Obama political election psychology ever learn ..... It was all a freakin photo op to help win the election and nothing more!!! The prez wasn't worried about whether he could actually do something about the victims .... He just needed some strategically timed media attention to show concern and make a few well worded empty promises to con more people to fawn all over him a few days before the election...... heck .... it worked didn't it!!
.... My guess is .... His next step will be to drag out the giving out of aid a little bit longer and blame the slow response on the Republicans in some way shape or form.
