Romney aides blast 'hypocrites' who asked for cabinet jobs and are now trashing him
Daily Mail (UK) ^ | November 23, 2012 | Toby Harnden

Posted on 11/24/2012 9:15:02 PM PST by Lancey Howard

Former senior aides to Mitt Romney have hit back at the 'craven hypocrites' in the Republican party who just days before the election were clamouring for jobs in a Romney administration and are now belittling him.

'There were one or two well-known figures who were late committing to support him, were the most eager to curry favour when it looked like we would win and are now out there trashing the governor.

(snip)

But the other senior adviser, who declined to be named when criticising senior Republicans, singled out Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Newt Gingrich as among those who had been quickest to lambast Romney. After Romney told donors on a post-election conference call that many voted for President Obama because he had offered them 'gifts', Jindal said Romney's comments were 'absolutely wrong'. He said: 'We have got to stop dividing American voters. We need to go after 100 per cent of the votes, not 53 per cent - we need to go after every single vote.'

That was a reference to Romney's notorious '47 per cent' comments in which he said that proportion of voters was dependent on government and would inevitably back a Democrat.

Gingrich called the 'gifts' comments 'nuts' and 'insulting' to voters.

The anonymous adviser said: 'Bobby Jindal wanted very, very much to be Vice President. He appeared publicly with Governor Romney after the 47 per cent comments, which the governor himself said were totally wrong. 'Newt Gingrich made it clear to us he wanted to be part of a Romney administration. 'Both these guys - and others - were the governor's best friend when it seemed he was on the brink of becoming our 45th President. Now they're calling him a bum. Real profiles in courage.'

Romney does not belong in republican politics.

Neither do the GOP leaders who were forcing him on the party.

Your entire post is fuzzy. And, I stand by what I said - it was Newt who coined the food-stamp president. Sure, Newt went out to help Mitt - he wanted a cabinet position. I’m not sure that any politician puts the country first - not even your beloved Newt - who always seemed to put his wants and needs above those of his wives he cheated on. So, don’t try to paint him as some great patriot that he isn’t.

It is you who is missing the point. Newt was being hypocritical and it wouldn’t be the first time. Do you forget the pic of him sitting with Nancy Pelosi and embracing global warming? I guess so.

Nothing personal, Mitt, just business.

I really think Romney needed to explain on the campaign or an ad, the 47% remark. He needed to explain it was the folks that get welfare/foood stamps long term, generational group.

Friends of mine who worked hard all their lives wondered if Romney was referring to them, those on ss now. Or a friend who is getting unemployment because she lost her job due to economy. Or another friend who get social security disability due to having Lupus. He never really made that clear who the 47% was; and I think that hurt him, in fact I know it hurt him with votes. I understood it, but not everyone understood what group he was referrencing.

He had every right to make that statement but he let the left and Obama make that his “image”. Romney had an obligation to really explain in detail who are the 47%.

"When Romney wins the election, then you get to pretend that he was not a loser, and a gaffe making disaster, you don’t to play that pretend game immediately after he gets wiped out against Jimmy Carter the second."

Of course, no Freetard wants to acknowledge the converse is absolutely true -- that Bobo is also a "loser", and a "gaffe-making" disaster, and lost 7% of his 2008 support, whereas Romney surpassed McCain's popular vote.

Freetards also fail to acknowledge that the national registered-but-unvoting electorate at-large has 'had it' with politics of every stripe. And as for the Freetard more-Conservative-than-thou mindset, Tom Hoefling of America’s Party got exactly 38,442 votes -- .03 percent.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that graphic. It so typifies the thinking of the average ObaMao voter.

I agree- I could see it coming that Obama, having been blasted by his own group/media lovers after first debate that he would get his game face on in the following debates and wouldn’t allow Romney to wipe the floor with him again. Obama’s ego was too huge to allow a repeat.

The 47% remark, Romney should have hammered hard in detail the group he was referring to once that tape came out.

Christi hurt Romney big time. Romney disappeared during the hurricaine after he was slapped around for offering food.

Then, he conceded without going after PA where Republican voter judges were kept from entering the polls.

I am not saying I want him to, but if Romney wants a political future then him and his insiders need to quit “burning all their bridges behind them”, and “man up”, by looking themselves in the mirror and quit making excuses and looking for scapegoats; and quit asking others to make excuses and point fingers at scapegoats for them.

All Romney and his insiders have done so far is show that they are incapable of seeing their own errors.

That’s actually an interesting question. Where do the growing list of failed GOP presidential candidates fit within the GOPe? How much influence does Dole have (is he still alive?) Does anyone in the GOPe listen to McCain? Can Romney still pull any levers ( beyond the ones any billionaire can pull).

“The dems won only due to massive voter fraud.....
Any conservative or repub that fails to recognize that fact is unprepared for what happens next.”....

All this blogging about the 2016 nominee is bull@@@@....This election was stolen through fraud and no one in the Republican party will push the issue....Why the hell would anyone run for 2016?.....Any other discussion about this or that concerning the election and how it was lost is crap......NO ONE was turning out for Obama rallies and 30,000 plus were showing up for not Romney, but just to kick Obama’s ass out.....Look at the video where he arrived in PA. at the airport and tell me the base was not motivated to vote the traitor out....Two parking decks full of anti-Obama voters screaming and Romney said “ That’s when you know your going to win”...He did win....The votes were there....It’s disturbing to think about what you mention as the next step in the process.....And Republicans walk around like the ignorant corrupt @@@holes they are, with no fight against the fraud......Rush, Hannity, Levin, all of them are traitors for not putting this reality in the news until it is addressed.......

Well .. with a supportive media .. the left has managed to keep a lot of stuff hidden. I don’t expect that to change; they’re too corrupt.

I believe Romney's wife said this would be his last race, and I believe her. The election is over, and rather than beat up Romney, I think it would be a lot smarter to be studying our Congressmen and potential presidential candidates. I can tell you three men who I will not support for any office...Newt Gingrich, Chris Christie, and Bobby Jindal. Newt Gingrich is just looking for a way to make some money to pay off his debts, and the three men are nothing but hypocrites. In my opinion, Gingrich will do anything in his power to destroy anyone who stands in his way of getting what he wants. He supported Romney after he lost in the primary and needed a job. But when Romney lost the election (or had it stolen by the early unregistered and unqualified voters)Gingrich once again jumped ship and the three men showed their true colors.

Christie has always been a show off and bully, and he really showed his lack of character when he gave Obama a week of undeserved praise.

If you want to know about Bobby Jindal, ask the people of Louisiana, and while you're at it; take a look at the parishes of Louisiana that are suffering while Jindal seeks to create a national name for himself!

I suggest we seek a way to expose Obama for the fraud he is, and stop destroying innocent people because they didn't meet our expectations. Do you see or hear democrats destroying their own? They stick together, and we destroy our own!

The reason that was foolish to say, and Jindal and Newt are right!..is that you want to talk some sense into as many of those 47% er’s to vote republican. Not tell them that they will always vote leftist! That is what Reagan did! And many DID vote for him that otherwise voted dem all the time! That is truth. Because he knew what was best for even the leftists and wanted them to switch over. This is hopeful politicking and why Reagan was a master.

Ok, well there’s nothing you can do about it.

The right has been utterly defeated to every possible extent regarding abortion.

Obsessing over it has not helped that cause in any way, shape or form. What it has done is advance it.

My guess is that Jindhal et al. were trying to give advise to the advisers, and they didn’t want to hear it. Rove, of course, is in Jeb’s pocket.

Obvious Rule #1 : Don't insult the voters before your election.

Yeah, how did Romney expect to win the votes of the welfare / food stamp crowd by insulting them?

Are you serious?

Romney:.."the 47%..."Very bad, insulting, why, the worsest gaffe a candidate can make, insulting and aleinating 47% of honest, thinking voters.

Obama: .."bitter clingers..." 'sokay, speaking truth to voters, besides, those scum would ever vote democrat anyways, just watch them drool from their tooth.

See, it's all a matter perspective, and listening and believing the media, who would never lie to you, never.

Oh, and political experts on this very site.
