Why was there an IsraelGaza war in the first place? Resistance to the occupation, say Hamas and many in the international media.
What occupation? Seven years ago, in front of the world, Israel pulled out of Gaza. It dismantled every settlement, withdrew every soldier, evacuated every Jew, leaving nothing and no one behind. Except for the greenhouses in which the settlers had grown fruit and flowers for export. These were left intact to help Gazas economy only to be trashed when the Palestinians took over.
Israel then declared its border with Gaza to be an international frontier, meaning that it renounced any claim to the territory and considered it an independent entity. In effect, Israel had created the first Palestinian state ever, something never granted by fellow Muslims neither the Ottoman Turks nor the Egyptians who brutally occupied Gaza for two decades before being driven out by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War.
Israel wanted nothing more than to live in peace with this independent Palestinian entity. After all, the world had incessantly demanded that Israel give up land for peace.
It gave the land. It got no peace.
The Gaza Palestinians did not reciprocate. They voted in Hamas, who then took over in a military putsch and turned their newly freed Palestine into an armed camp from which to war against Israel. It has been war ever since.
Interrupted by the occasional truce, to be sure. But for Hamas a truce hudna is simply a tactic for building strength for the next round. It is never meant to be enduring, never meant to offer peace.

But that hope was jeopardized when Palestinian looters damaged many of the greenhouses, stripping them bare, for instance, of computers that the settlers used to monitor crops. Irrigation pumps were stolen, electricity networks paralyzed, and protective sheeting for the hothouses were torn.
Greenhouses covering one-fourth of the land were damaged during looting after the handover, according to Palestinian officials.
The destruction of the Greenhouses says it all. As long as the UN and Arabia give the money for food to live in poverty—it will be the launch pad for more attacks until Israel is no more. When they win (if ever) they will do the same to everything Israel had built up. Peace accords are not the answer with these fanatics. You got to use Putin’s Russia as a model—how did he handle the Islamic Terrorists in his land?
That is great!
“Gaza is in effect a city state with no internal resources nor sustainable ability”
Sort of like Hong Kong and Singapore?
You seem a bit obtuse.
Gaza is the new “Danzig.”
-——Sort of like Hong Kong and Singapore?-——
Good point except no!
First there are no Chinese. Second the singapore/HongKong Arab equivalent is Dubai/Abu Dhabi.
Gaza is a running sore, a boil, a sociatal blight.
Meanwhile, Boehner and company are going to trade citizenship for illegal aliens for .... for what? Their pictures on the cover of magazines? A pat on the back from Krugman at an exclusive cocktail party?
Stupid and cowardly is a deadly combination.
“First there are no Chinese. Second the singapore/HongKong Arab equivalent is Dubai/Abu Dhabi.”
And what’s the difference between the chinese of Hong Kong and Singapore and the Arabs of Gaza?
In the case of arabs in Dubai/Abu Dhabi, the UAR has substantial natural resources (oil). But do you think it’s the oil that’s made them different from the arabs in Gaza?
My point is that it isn’t a lack of natural resouces that’s made “Gaza a running sore, a boil, a sociatal blight”, as you correctly point out. It’s something else - their belief system, their world view.
It’s what explains the difference between N and S Korea, as well as Gaza and Israel, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Switzerland, etc, etc.
Romney ran as the toughest on immigration to win the R primary then he went for the white 50+ vote in the general against O which he won a landslide of,
O turned out blacks and Hispanics (and single woman and young whites) to vote in Key states and it worked, after he went all out for illegals in his policy which you didn't hear much from Romney on..
Bohner+the rest are terrified now. All this talk of moderating to look more like Dems will result in no good, as did Romney result in no good.
You cannot have peace with a people that teach their children that someday they will kill you all.
“...Krauthammer: Why Was There War in Gaza?...”
That’s easy.
Because there’s moslems there.
Wherever they are, there’s a war, or a war waiting to happen.
Seven years ago, in front of the world, Israel pulled out of Gaza. It dismantled every settlement, withdrew every soldier, evacuated every Jew, leaving nothing and no one behind. Except for the greenhouses in which the settlers had grown fruit and flowers for export. These were left intact to help Gaza's economy -- only to be trashed when the Palestinians took over. Israel then declared its border with Gaza to be an international frontier, meaning that it renounced any claim to the territory and considered it an independent entity. In effect, Israel had created the first Palestinian state ever, something never granted by fellow Muslims... the world had incessantly demanded that Israel give up land for peace. [Israel] gave the land. It got no peace.
Bigger pity about the Jewish cemeteries. They had do exhume and move all the bodies to keep the Palies from defiling them.
[. . .nothing and no one behind. Except for the greenhouses in which the settlers had grown fruit and flowers for export. These were left intact to help Gazas economy only to be trashed when the Palestinians took over.]
I remember watching on the news as the Palestinian goatherds set these greenhouses on fire. It reminded me of the ghetto riots when the crazy halfwits burned their neighborhood stores and demolished their neighbors’ cars.
