And the Boomers paid into the generous (and largely unearned) entitlement programs that supported the previous generations. After all, America is (was) a rich country. The generations that created entitlements like Social Security were on the front end of the pyramid scheme. They collected the benefits and Boomers paid the bill. Now that Boomers are retiring, the Ponzi scheme is revealed. There’s nothing left for the people who paid into these entitlements their entire working lives. The government is broke.
