Allen West concedes to Patrick Murphy

Florida Rep. Allen West — the tea party pugilist and face of the class of House Republicans that stormed to power two years ago — conceded Tuesday to 29-year-old construction executive Patrick Murphy in one of the nation’s highest-profile congressional races.

After two weeks of battle with St. Lucie County elections officials — and a recount of early votes that wound up extending Murphy’s lead — West acknowledged that he couldn’t surmount his 1,904-vote, or 0.58 percent, deficit. That difference was just outside the 0.5 percent threshold to automatically trigger a recount of all votes.

Whenever I have attended any patriotic assemblies and the host asks any veterans in the audience to stand, and be recognized I am always saddened that there are only a very few us. And considering that the assemblies consists of those persons going to a patriotic function it is even worse for the general population as a whole.

Unofficial numbers in St Lucie show out of a total of 117,000 to 123,000 votes per race:

Democrat Obama: 65,869

Republican Romney: 56,202

Democrat Gertrude: 75,767

Republican opponent of Gertrude: 41,945

Democrat Murphy: 65,000

Republican West: 53,000

10,000 of those who voted for West and Romney also voted for Democrat Gertrude Walker for SoE.

I would be mentally exhausted after this. It would take a large toll and stress must be through the roof. I hope that after a few days he is back and going all in. Start the next campaign next week. In fact, all of the GOP should be doing that. Why give the rats a grace period?

Yup. The day after the election, I looked at my wife and said in a tired voice: "Honey, the country we grew up in and loved all of our lives, no longer exists." It continues to amaze me. An open seat, redistricted to be less Repbublican, in the largest metro area of the state, and the Democrats only have one interested candidate and don't even have a primary.

And that person is a 29 year old punk who's claim to fame is worked at his daddy's company and got busted drinking on a fake ID.

This is the best the Dims can offer.
