The plants in the right to work states are worth something..the others are only worth the salvage value of the equipment and the real-estate.
Who buys a money loosing plant in a union shop state? Only a crony with a govt loan with zero equity at risk.
I live in Mexico. We MAKE Twinkies there REAL cheap. Soon you can order them on line at Amazon and avoid all of the Unionized bakers and drivers and bosses and union shops. Life is great...TWINKIE POWER.
Our plant just went through that four years ago. Since our plant was non-union, more productive and produced better quality, jobs actually moved from their existing plant to ours. When I went down to the existing plant to pick out which materials we wanted moved to our plant, the stares I got were so icy that I could have frozen (or bleed) to death.
If Bimbo (the Mexican company) becomes the buyer, they will probably not only move production to right-to-work states, they will hire the newly minted DREAMers to replace the the union employees.
And the irony of it all will be totally lost on the jag-offs.
A company which buys the names and trademarks may also buy some of the specialized machinery used to make the products, but that machinery will be moved to their existing facilities in right-to-work states.
An acquiring company would be insane to hire any of the union people whose insane strike doomed the original company.
Step one to getting job back is to move to Mexico.
Right ... no sane buyer wants any part of the imbeciles whose collective malfeasance put the first owner out of business.
They can buy the plants & the machinery. They can move the machinery and sell the land/buildings. Take a loss on those parts of the assets and refuse to hire any union members.
The unions should not gain one single thing over this strike.
Besides—who would want this group of malcontents working under their roof??? I sure would not.
The union workers had a chance to not only save their jobs, but save the Hostess company as well! Instead the union workers and the greedy union thugs chose to kill their own jobs and the company to boot! How in heavens name they could chose to do this to themselves and to their families in this totally failed and failing economy is beyond all reason and comprehension.
After their unemployment benefits all run out, the banks foreclose on their homes and these union workers lose everything, I hope they and their families enjoy living on the street, in their cars and in homeless shelters because they have no one to blame for the mess they are in but THEMSELVES. As for the union leadership THUG bosses who motivated them to take this delusional course of self destruction... they will still "land on their feet" and will as Hans Gruber so aptly put it; "We will be sitting on a beach, earning 20%."
Lord willing, other union workers will finally wake up, learn the "Hostess lesson" and realize that their union overlord, thug bosses do not care about them or the companies that employ them and pay their salary, but only care about themselves, their wealth and their power.
