How ObamaCare will keep unemployment high by forcing small companies to cut their workforce to fewer than 50 people

Under ObamaCare, employers with 50 or more full-time workers must provide health insurance for all their workers, paying at least 65% of the cost of a family policy or 85% of the cost of an individual plan. Moreover, the insurance must meet the federal governments requirements in terms of what benefits are included, meaning that many businesses that offer insurance to their workers today will have to change to new, more expensive plans.
ObamaCares rules make expansion expensive, particularly for the 500,000 US businesses that have fewer than 100 employees.
Suppose that a firm with 49 employees does not provide health benefits. Hiring one more worker will trigger the mandate. The company would now have to provide insurance coverage to all 50 workers or pay a tax penalty.

and they wanted to do this and an added bonus liberals will boycottt you if you try and stay in business
Quite an achievement for a fraud who can’t pass E-verify.
I’m glad the MEDIA and news are reporting this NOW after the election...thanks traitors!!!
My wife works for a small company with just over 50 employees. Small Family Business. They had a meeting last week and have decided they can’t afford the mandates and will be letting enough workers go to get under 50.
Soon they’ll dump this 50 employee thing and say all full-time workers. THAT is when everyone works 29 hours a week.
Guess zero didn’t realize the ‘collateral damage’, NOT.

AND since the businesses will stay open just as long, that will require DOUBLE THE EMPLOYEES, which will drive the unemployment #’s downward..
Everyone thinks BO is stoooooooooooooopid, but in reality, he is a genius. (BARF)
See, a blind squirrel does find an acorn now and then.
I once worked for a manufacturing operation that had several European sites. The one in Gouda, Netherlands was perpetually just under 100 employees, for if the company went over 100 it would be pretty much impossible to dismiss any of them.
bump
I want my country back...NOW!
Obamacare is a disaster for this nation. My only hope is that those who voted for zero get hit first and realize the stupidity of their vote.
Is this being done on purpose, or did the DEMS, as usual, not look beyond their “good intentions” to see the consequences of this stupid a** bill?
Another option here for a business with, say, 60 employees to break into two separate companies with 30 employees apiece.
And people seem just fine with it. Back when America was a strong nation, high employment was regarded as problematic.. nowadays, it`s the “new normal,” along with record numbers of those in poverty, on welfare and on foodstamps.
Americans would`ve been outraged... but not the submissive, needy subjects who comprise “New Amerika.”
We are at 52.
We will be at 49 by January.
Three people will be laid off and we will use temps if we get in a bind.
But the government will still feed us bogus numbers and claim that 20% unemployment is only 7.8% unemployment.
After a career in HR, I will say that two part-timers instead of one full-timer is less efficient, and adds expenses for the company in many ways. It’s not just an equal replacement. For example, now there are twice as many employees, so there are space problems, logistics problems, like parking, all processing (like payroll) takes longer because there are twice a many to handle, and all the little issues related to employees are doubled. More hiring time. More turnover. Many other things like that. So being forced to run a company with more lower-hours employees has a negative impact on the productivity of the company. If the company is on the edge financially anyway, it might not survive such a change.
All true, but in certain industries - like the restaurant business - those factors have far less impact and you’ll certainly see a much greater proportion of part-time workers.

I visit a website where a lot of liberals hangout. MANY of them ARE losing their jobs but they don’t want to admit their Messiah had a hand in any of it. The Emporer has no clothes on comes to mind...I totally understan the reason it was written now...
