Surgery wait times for deadly ovarian, cervical and breast cancers in Québec are three times longer than government benchmarks, leading some desperate patients to shop around for an operating room. But thats a waste of time, doctors say, since the problem is spread across Québec hospitals. And doctors are refusing to accept new patients quickly because they cant treat them, health advocates say.
The worst cases are gynecological cancers, experts say, because usually such a cancer has already spread by the time it is detected. Instead of four weeks from diagnosis to surgery, patients are waiting as long as three months to have cancerous growths removed.
Its a crisis for Québec women, said Lucy Gilbert, director of gynecological oncology and the gynecologic cancer multi-disciplinary team at the McGill University Health Center. Her team has had access to operating rooms only two days a week for the past year, with dozens of patients having surgeries postponed week after week.

SOunds like WAR ON WOMEN....soon coming to USA!
Sebilius drools over this, so does Holdren. Die humans, die!
I guess this is what happens when you vote with your lady parts.
If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it’s free.

Ladies, come to the USA and get treated! Oh, wait a second...never mind.../sarcasm
Took my aunt over a year to get a deviated septum done. She could have rented an apartment by me, and by the time the ink was dry on the paper, had the surgery.
Collectivism’s end game is population reduction, by the billions.
Like drinking antifreeze, it tastes good.
You don’t know the half of it that’s not being reported. Even my aunt in Saskatchewan waited 4 months for an effing MRI.
But that reduced population must still support all the goodies the freeloaders demand.
Oh well gals, you voted for it.
I was doing some info gathering to combat the lies of Obamacare a leftist loon I play softball with keeps telling.
One of the tidbits I found on MRI's, (you know, those machines your orthopedist wants to have you examined by sometime next week because you hurt your shoulder) is that in the province of Ontario, as of 2011, there were approx. 80 machines with a waiting time of about 208 days. Where I live in S.E. Michigan, there's probably that many within a 20 mile radius of me and I can have a scan done within a week.......
Drink deep, ladies...welcome to Jonestown.
Those that have political connections don’t wait to die.
That is what socialism is all about, power.
You folks have it wrong. ObamaCare singles out a handful of diseases and conditions for special emphasis. Breast cancer and cervical cancer are two of them.
Now my friends with prostate cancer and my wife with myeloma are screwed. But, hey, as a Progressive friend said to me “Sacrifices have to be made.”
Here’s the story..all of it.
OTTAWA Eastern Ontarians, particularly the walking wounded, are waiting longer for MRIs than they did three years ago even though the region has acquired three new machines to do more scans.
Officials are quick to point out that the patients who are waiting the longest are not those with life-threatening conditions such as cancer, heart disease or brain disorders. Rather, they are patients with back pain or muscle injuries.
What were talking about here are people who dont have conditions that need to be scanned urgently,
If I get any more PO'd, it'll be, "Democrats Deserve Death Panels."
I find it not surprising that the only MRI machines are in hospital medical facilities.
Here they're privatized and readily available to anyone regardless of the severity of injury or illness. In fact, one such group called Basha Diagnostics actually advertises their services on local TV.
4 years ago I injured my shoulder playing softball, two days later I was able to see my orthopedist who prescribed an MRI and 5 days after that I had the MRI at a private facility about 2 miles away.......When I called to make the appointment they asked me "what time is convenient for you, morning or afternoon...?"
That's what happens when you eliminate diagnostic tests (Pap smears, mammograms) to save money, and when the system "treats" all menstrual dysfunction or other reproductive-system problems with birth control pills.
"Sorry you're dying, ladies, but this is what Fairness looks like."
As a side note, all the guys I play softball with are over 55 and many of them have had knee and hip replacements and virtually all of them had a choice of when to have their procedures done. Usually at the end of the season so they could use the winter to recover.......
