Newt Gingrich: Source Tells Me Petraeus Never Blamed Benghazi Attack On Video
Mediaite ^ | November 13, 2012 | Alex Alvarez

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich stopped by Fox & Friends Tuesday morning to promote his new book, but was first asked to share his thoughts on the ever-widening scandal surrounding General David Petraeus and his biographer, Paula Broadwell.

(snip)

Host Steve Doocy asked Gingrich what he made “of the fact that the with mainstream media has followed the White House’s lead” on the story, maintaining that the President did not know about Petraeus’ situation until after the election.

Gingrich said this was the first time he’s realized that “this has been going on for months,” later adding that he’d been told “by people in the room” that Petraeus had in fact been “the one guy” who said the Benghazi attack was an act of terrorism and not a protest to a video.

I always thought putting Petreaus in Afghanistan was strange and pulling him out was even stranger. My best guess is that Broadwell had already nailed Petreaus...just another notch for her I’m sure. She’s trash.

Why beleive "people in the room" when you can watch him in the video of the last Bengazi hearing say that it was because of some video that nobody watched.

You've seen a tape of Petraeus' testimony? That sounds odd. Link?

I'll second that thought. I labeled Goodwell as a "notch" girl. Bet she's got a big, bad history....

Wonder who she nailed at West Point.

She just might turn out to be the real Patriot in this saga.

What makes you think that?

Broadwell (not Goodwell) was homecoming queen, valedictorian, and an all-state basketball player. So she had some accomplishments outside the bedroom also. It’s easy to see why she would be a good “fit” in the military....

“the Romney campaign turned to Microsoft”

Really? Microsoft? Gates is an Obama lover and supporter. Why would they go to Microsoft and risk sabotage? Like leaving Dracula in charge of the Blood Bank.

Petraeus: Benghazi Was Spontaneous Attack - Breitbart, October 29, 2012

I thought the hearing was behind closed doors and the testimony was classified. Anyway Brietbart doesn't offer an explanation how he got the supposed Petraeus quote. And the only named source I've seen who has claimed Petraeus has said this, is some Rat congressman from Maryland who attended the closed door hearing.

Somebody is trying to rehabilitate Petraeus, and Gingrich is being used to that end.

I can't come to that conclusion and I think it's most likely wrong.

There's millions of girls with those credentials. WHY did she choose to go to West Point?

At this point, I'd say she's "unfit". She picked her "mark".

Is it your contention that Gingrich is correct, that Petraeus never offered the "spontaneous demonstration, in response to a movie" theory of the attack?

Gingrich has the same source problem you correctly identify with Breitbart - no names. But Gingrinch's contention seems rehabilitative, to me, to Petraeus. At least I think conventional wisdom is that it's better to not be known as promoting or initiating the "movie made 'em do it" theory of the attack. Perhaps your opinion differs.

To understand where I am coming from, the affair needs to be put aside. I am not condoning it. I am not giving either a pass. I do understand how it is being used to keep Benghazi out of the headlines.

She was questioned by the FBI on October 21. She handed over her computer. It was said there was classified info on the computer that did not come from Petaeus. What we do not know is what type of security clearance she had or if she has any undercover ties to the CIA or any other agency.

She gave a speech October 26, 2012 in Denver. One of the first references, dated November 11, 2012 was here:

Broadwell: Petraeus Knew of Benghazi Plea for Help

I do not agree with much of what she said, but she dropped a bombshell.

"The fact that came out today is that the ground forces there at the CIA annex, which is different from the consulate, were requesting reinforcements.

"They were requesting the – it's called the C-in-C's In Extremis Force – a group of Delta Force operators, our very, most talented guys we have in the military. They could have come and reinforced the consulate and the CIA annex. Now, I don't know if a lot of you have heard this but the CIA annex had actually taken a couple of Libyan militia members prisoner, and they think that the attack on the consulate was an attempt to get these prisoners back. It's still being vetted.

"The challenging thing for Gen. Petraeus is that in his new position, he's not allowed to communicate with the press. So he's known all of this – they had correspondence with the CIA station chief in Libya, within 24 hours they kind of knew what was happening."

She is not stupid. I find it hard to believe this was a slip of the tongue. She also knows the consequences of revealing classified information. Knowing the consequences, she added a few more important pieces to the Benghazi puzzle which makes it more difficult for the admin to lie.

Last night her home was search by the FBI in spite of the fact that we were all told the investigation was over, there was no wrong doing, no threats to National Security.

One can only assume the decision to search her home was made after the feds learned about her 10/26 speech. A reasonable action.

What is not reasonable is the lack of reporting about this turn of the story. What did we wake up to this morning? General Allen sending 20,000 to 30,000 emails to Jill Kelley. Sex, sex and more sex.

I just checked the WaPo and NYT's front pages at their websites. Maybe I missed it (old eyes) but not one mention of her speech and the resulting search. That tells me all I need to know about how damaging the info is to the WH.

Thank you very much for the reply. If it were not for alternative sources for our news, we would be completely in the dark.

I have no inside info about the Orca app, but as an app developer - I suggest you see what devices the Orca app was used on - Microsoft only has 1 phone app development environment right now: Visual Studio or Visual Studio Express, which if you have the right SDK (developer software they give out for free) - can publish apps for Windows phones. For something developed before just this last few weeks, that would have meant Windows 7 for phones, although now they’ve released the Windows 8 phone development suite and OS. If this was used on Blackberries, IOS, or Android devices, it would mean the Microsoft team wasn’t using their own platform - but then why hire MSFT to develop on a non MSFT platform?

I find it hard to believe they didn’t do a trial run of the thing before election day...(bad reporting or inept programmers?)

Hope that helps you some!

Thank you, I have run into multiple dead ends on the developer name. Nothing is published anywhere on who it was or where they are based. I would have thought they would have been bragging prior to its release which is common in that industry.

It appears it had to connect to a server securely and someone or something redirected the phone to another address. So it was server based. They also lost the server they used for all there VIOP phones. Comcast announced that day they thought it was a denial of service attack and then retracted that. Very strange stuff either gross incompetence or coordinated attack.

I'm not a backend person (servers, databases, etc) - other than setting up the basics and letting the uber nerds handle the rest :) - but it seems with an app that important, there should have been a fallback for any kind of server failure. My web host has several data centers, for example - as do all of the big hosting companies. This article may help you, seems to have some good info about the ORCA failure... ORCA Woes

At this point the best explanation to me comes from what Broadwell revealed in her speech at that college to little fanfare at the time. If the CIA was running secret prisons in violation of Obama’s campaign promises, and that news came out before the election, he would’ve alienated his left-wing base, and possibly some moderates at the worst possible time politically for him. This is why they had to concoct the story about it being a spontaneous riot in response to the video. The only reason to concoct that story is if they had to cover up a different motivation for the attack that would be politically damaging to Obama.

Of course, ironically, if he was operating secret prisons in the war on terror, that would’ve helped his standing with conservaties.

They also hired former employees of Apple, Google, Ominture, and Overstock for their digital marketing department. Talk about letting the fox into the hen house! Idiots.

What the heck is ORCA? Other than something in connection with Romney’s campaign. What does it have to do with Petraeus and Benghazi and all this stuff?
