Operative Faith reveals that Kroger will soon join the ranks of Durden Restaurants and slash the hours of its non-exempt (hourly) workers to avoid millions in Obamacare penalties.
To give you a sense of Krogers size and importance, its sales last year were $90 billion and it employs nearly 350,000 people. Most of its jobs are hourly and the vast majority of workers are neither millionaires or billionaires.
Faith is a mid-level manager at Kroger and reports the dire news:
Last week we found out that, beginning in January, any employee who is not full-time at that point, will be limited to 28 hours per week and all new hires will be subject to the same policy.
Currently, part-time employees can work as many hours as needed.
Many Kroger employees, I believe, will be shocked to find out about this new policy.

Kroger? Goodness it has been 30 years since I shopped there. I just hope Wagman’s are able to keep the exact way they operate. Wagman’s is one of the top grocery stores in the United States and maybe the world.
Ooops, my teen son works there.
I’m predicting about 15% unemployment in one year.
I feel sorry for the employees who did not vote for 0bama. If they voted for 0bama they got what they asked for. Elections have consequences. 0bama won and you lost.
DARDEN restaurants.
Tyler Durden = Fight Club.
Darden Restaurants = Red Lobster
I think MOST retail-level and fast food companies will be doin this.
Call it Obama’s Job Sharing Plan
Obama announces new one (1) minimum hour per week meets requirement for Obamacare objective: any employees working less than one hour per week will incur a 250K fine per occurrence - decree issued by His Majesty, Obama II.
I give it six months and they will remove the hourly requirement and it will be based on the number of employees only.
Fly in the ointment here is that they will need to nearly double the number of part-time employees on the payroll in order to cover all their shifts. And as it is, you can barely find enough people at those wages with some semblance of a work ethic to fill those shifts now.
It will backfire on them, even before Obama and Sebelius do the Public Villification Dance on them.
DUrden is RACISS!!!!
Baraq’s “new normal”
Work two 20 hr/week jobs @ sub $10/hr wages.
President Obama: Health Reform Town Hall at Kroger in Virginia
Oh goody. Elections and unread laws do have consequences.
The new norm: Two part time jobs per person. Or three IF they step up their boycotts. Just keep cutting their hours. Until they beg to make it just stop and cry Uncle.
Damned 1%ers!
The 51% too!
I’m starting to get a real case of schadenfreude. Everytime I hear some Obama demograhic is getting less (-$50 in Ohio Food Stamps), laid off, hours reduced I can’t help thinking, well there you go. It’s going to be a lot more serious when people can’t get medical attention after ObamaCare goes into effect.
Elections have consequences, Obama voters
Well, well...the first term was the ‘hope’( as in hope it doesn’t get worse. And the second is ‘change’( as in everything in your life, starting with your income). Hope all the Husseinatics enjoy their ‘change’- it’s what they’ll be living on. Get begging cup and choose your corner.
...or create swelling armies of p*ssed off employees and then spring Card Check and unionization on them.
