I’m predicting about 15% unemployment in one year.

We’re already there. Obamacare will bring about the complete destruction of the economy and cause them to collapse ushering in nationalized industries. Obamacare is turning out to be the most destructive and invasive legislation that has ever been passed. The ONLY way he’s going to be impeached is when the Left turn on him next year when their paychecks are suddenly much much lighter. Idiots. After we remove 0 we need to hike the voting age or make them take a common sense test.

I’m predicting 15% additional unemployment in one year than the real 15% we currently have. In Kroger’s defence (and all others) business has to do whatever it takes to survive.

Actually, this will make unemployment go down. Under the new rules, you will need 3 employees to do the work of 2. The bad news is that the pay the two are now earning will have to be redistributed to cover the third worker. Share the wealth...see how it works????

Higher unemployment probably will not happen, in fact the insidious part is that unemployment will more than likely go down. Because they count part time jobs as jobs, and that Kroger employee who is part time but has been able to work extra hours means there’s work to be done. So Kroger will hire another part timer to do the rest of the work...and we’ll see unemployment go down due to more part time workers.

Maybe not so much unemployment as UNDERemployment. However, the same person could work half time each at two different grocery stores and not get Obamacare-bombed. The invisible hand is quicker than the Democrat eye.

Disagree... If an employer has X number of hours of work to be done but has to limit each employee to less than is needed, the only other option they have is to hire more workers. A larger number of workers doing less work essentially accomplish the same amount of work.

You give it that long?

I give it until after the Christmas "rush," if we even have one.

-- I'm predicting about 15% unemployment in one year. --

I figure some people will work two 20 hour / week jobs, and each job will count as being employed.

To take an extreme example, if half of the people looking for work each have two jobs, the government can call it 0% unemployment - the number of (filled) jobs is the same as the number of workers seeking jobs.

An, oh, what an upside in the statistics! There could be negative unemployment! More jobs than people!

One thing you can count on, the government will figure a way to keep the official stats from looking that bad.

Truth be known, we’re already at about 16% and have been for some time. I think you mean 25%.

Not so sure about that, if those currently unemployed are willing to work part time, there should be a ton of those jobs available real soon. NOW I think U6 which takes into consideration under employment that will be >= 20%

“I’m predicting about 15% unemployment in one year.”

By no later than June 2013.

Once the corporate lawyers and tax accountants reassess the state of things and just where exactly they stand, it will open the floodgates of Hell.
