Who Authorized FBI Surveillance of Gen. Petraeus?
Breitbart ^

Posted on 11/10/2012 10:51:39 AM PST by Perdogg

Even by the standards of the friday afternoon news dump tradition, yesterday's news that Gen. David Petraeus had resigned from the CIA was a stunner. The most heralded military officer of his generation fell from grace after it was revealed he'd had an affair with his biographer. The affair was discovered earlier this year soon after the FBI began monitoring his email. This raises a very serious question. Who authorized the FBI to monitor the e-mail of the Director of the CIA?

I still thinking they were using this as blackmail. Democrats can’t have honest people in power unless they have something to hold against them.

He probably had enough and said to hell with it, I’ll out myself.

Not only that, but it has been the practice to read and censor all mail originating in a war zone to prevent servicemen from writing something that might be used to gain knowledge harmful to the military.

Email from a general would certainly be examined.

Once an investigation began while he was in Afghanistan, it would continue until resolved one way or another.

I would bet on that.

This began while he was in Afghanistan so it did not begin as a plot to get him.

It may well have become that at a later date.

She was trying to hack his email.

Big question: Why and for who?

At that point in time, not a plot by obumbler to get him.

So who?

Was she a foreign agent?

Very unlikely that she was working on her own.

One article said the NSA found the original email during routine scans of government employees. It was the NSA who went to FBI. I have not seen that confirmed, just putting it in the record as a possibility.

NSA grabs everything, almost all of it innocuous garbage intel wise. The computer scanning would have flagged DCIA's communications based on key words, phrases, recipient, and other factors before being brought to the attention of human eyes.

"Say babe, how about we knock some boots tonite". Doesn't strike me as a red security flag with a Drudge Siren.

Real question is was Petraeus under constant surveillance, routine. Scheduled scan, event driven (Benghazi), command driven (O wants to gauge loyalty of flag officers pre-election)

I suspect that the real time monitoring of the Benghazi assault and the stand down orders caused a flurry of encrypted msgs among general staff with an angry WTF tone) The knock down of Petraeus was a message to every flag officer, "Four stars don't mean shit, we own your ass! STFU!"

Can you imagine the raw data available to the Chicago mafia for any future powerful senator, congressman, agency head, or would-be republican challenger? Raw DAta comes from field agents to Holders desk to Obamas desk to Axlerod. It makes Hillarys’ FBI files look like Dear ABby remarks. Obama/Axlerod has the speculative dirt on every person in the government....including the supremes. Obama is not a Boy Scout. He takes no prisoners.

Could it be: Petraeus was given the CIA position, (as in keep the enemy close). Draw him in, then turn the screws on him?

Setting this gal up, via BIO on the Gen., to compromise him, which scared him into lying.

Once he was compromised, they can begin their investigations, and using their findings to Blackmail him. He would then simply be trying to protect his wife, as at that time Benghazi had not happened. There would be no need for him to think anything other than protecting his wife.

Once they had this SET UP, BENGHAZI happened and they knew Petraeus was hooked and no where to turn. Mission Accomplished.

If any of this is reasonable, then BENGHAZI was in the planning for a long time. Just had to get the Chess pieces in the right place, checkmate Petraeus.

Mission ONE: Seduce the general to discredit him.

Mission TWO: Write a book

She was working for someone who wanted to sabotage Petraeus. Her 'biographer' title was only cover for the mission. Mission accomplished. The bigger story is 'Who hired her to get petraeus?' It came from the top. Bet on that. Possibly 0bama or Jarrett by order of Soros/U.N./NWO. Overthrowing America requires the shaming of everything we hold in high regard. Look at what Team 0bama has done to the reputation of our SEALs; 0bama robbed them of credit for the OBL mission. Abandoned them to DIE in Benghazi. Now punishing them for divulging classified information to a gaming company. THAT was probably a seduction or enticement too.. Team 0bama is BUSY!!

This is so obvious it STINKS, folks. Too bad most Americans are too stupid to realize what's going on here.

Romney apparently still wanted him as his VP, a point Obama leaked himself at a fundraiser.

If that is true it gives me hope that he is going to do the right thing and come clean about Benghazi and he did it after the election because he thought Romney was going to win and he wouldn’t have to rat out Obama to be rid of him. Not sure I agree with that approach, but I hope it works.

That makes sense. CIA uses (or at least should, you never can tell these days) highly encrypted email for “all everything”.

The US government regularly uses Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), which is good enough for most traffic, but there is no way the CIA would be satisfied with just that.

Kicking it up enough notches so that the rest of the civilized world can’t break it takes serious effort, however, to the point where only a few, particularly the NSA, would be able to crack it.

But that’s their job. And National Security anything, no matter whose toes are stepped on, is authorized for them. And from there, it’s a pipeline to the FBI, the only agency with enough clout to follow it up.

We’re on the same page, as they say! Right on. But I did not consider that ‘Benghazi’ was part of a plan to impune Petraeus. Now we get to see an American icon get trashed. My prior post elaborates on this. I hope the SEALs take America back.

So, somebody sees his e-mails last Spring where him and Mata Whorie are discussing their times in Afghanistan. He’s the head of the CIA. Who here thinks that the President wasn’t immediately notified?

“Man! Frank! Look at his e-mails! The head of the CIA was fooling around in Afghanistan! What should we do?”

“Well, Bob, as tried and trusted agents of The Federal Bureau of Investigation, I think we should keep our mouths shut until after the Presidential election.”

Nope. Never happen that way.

CIA director in DC and Lieutenant General in Afghanistan are different kinds of positions. It would be easier to watch him in DC. I can't get 7 days in May out of my mind considering all the goings on of late.

Probably the generally-recognized principle that any use of computer equipment at work can be monitored by the employer.

Actually, while that i true for private employers, it isn't for government employees. Those normally require some type of curt related document.

He wasn’t the director of the CIA when he was initially monitored.
