Senior intelligence, State Department and FBI officials can expect to be grilled next week as congressional hearings resume on the terror attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Libya that killed four Americans.
Lawmakers want answers to many outstanding questions surrounding the September 11 armed assault on the diplomatic facility and a CIA annex in Benghazi.
Specifically, they want to know who was responsible, whether it was planned, the intelligence reporting on the threat to Libya prior the attack, and whether security was adequate.
The Senate Intelligence Committee will conduct a closed-door hearing on November 15. Scheduled witnesses include Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, CIA Director David Petraeus, Undersecretary of State Patrick Kennedy, FBI Deputy Director Sean Joyce and National Counterterrorism Center Director Matt Olsen.
Clapper, Petraeus and Olsen will also testify behind closed doors to the House Intelligence Committee on the same day.

Petraeus in particular has been criticized by a number of lawmakers for telling members of Congress in a secret briefing three days after the attack that the incident was a spontaneous result of the protests.

Now isn't that interesting.
Does anyone else wonder about the timing of Petraeus' confession and resignation?
I can’t take his resignation at face value.
Head of the CIA over an affair? Mitch Rapp wouldn’t buy it.
Diplomats still in Benghazi say they had long questioned U.S. reliance on local militia "...We never considered using the brigades, he said, referring to the 17th of February Brigade, the local militia that was considered the primary security force for the U.S. mission. We assumed the United States had a special relationship with the brigades.
Said another diplomat who requested anonymity for the same reasons: I would never depend on the brigades.
The diplomat said he believed U.S. officials were unaware of the extremist links of those who were guarding them. "The mistake of the Americans was not following the trail of Islamic radicals," he said........"
...here's my scenario - Petraeus was being black-mailed by the White House...give us cover on the video story or we leak your affair...
I find that hard to believe. Stevens had been in Benghazi a long time and he knew who these people were. Rather, I would suggest that he was told to cultivate and rely on them, as part of 0's policy of "reaching out" and helping bring to power Islamist radicals in Egypt and north Africa.
These hearings are a complete waste of time. And further, they will only breed contempt for our leaders who have no intent whatsoever to hold anyone to account.
Might just as well move on.
I would say I have no confidence whatsoever in our government, but then that would indicate there actually was one.
We live under total anarchy. The chaos utilized by the Left, has totally destroyed anything like leadership, self-determination, and sound governance.
It’s over. They won.
We’re on our own.
General David Patraeus was an honorable Officer and a Gentleman for most of his life... 4 years with jug ears and satan and look how far he has fallen. Rumors are that he exposed our most sensitive data to whomever this affair was with... all rumors... but where there is smoke there is usually fire.
LLS
Tom Sawyer will be Chairman of this investigation, Hw will pass out the Whitewash brush’s and all of them will be whitewashing.
Only a damned fool would think a Congressional investigation into this will rebuke our newly elected Muslim.
Possibly the WH even set him up for the affair, to create a scandal for him to “take the bait”, so he would have to resign in shame, deflect the story of Benghazi. I will NEVER believe that his resignation is unrelated to the Benghazi scandal.
So you think he called teir bluff, outed himself in order to tell the truth?
TRUE!! Cavuto just announced he will never have to testify.
Interesting if he pleads the 5th!!
I have to wonder who was the object of his extra-marital affection? Was it a honey trap ?
They can offer him full immunity and force him to testify under penalty of prison if he doesn't.
He then takes the total fall himself, end of matter.
So Petraeus is forced to resign due to an affair, while Hillary gets to employ the person she is having an affair with ?
...no, I believe he lied to congress about the video under the threat of exposure...then, when the whole video story unravelled, he realized he was now in an even worse mess. Best to just come clean on the affair and get out now.
Just Googled Holly
Goodness , she is a bit of a plain Jane and a chubber .
Married to a gung-ho soldier and one of the highest ranking intel guys in the country . He knows that adultery is a sin , but he must get the come-on from some truly gorgeous ladies . Who among us could be able to resist ? Better to be honest with the wife first and agreeably go on to a single status before taking advantage of the irresistible and delightful temptations . We are all human , but we must also try our best to do things in the right way . Unrighteousness has its costs , as we see here .
I have seen high level intel folks and how they are carefully screened and protected by their agents . Petraeus agents knew full well . While he was carrying on with whomever , there was protection for him a short distance away . I bet the same applies to his boss . The question is ; at what point do these protestors have the guts to say to their protected one “ um, excuse me , but you really should not be doing this , and if you do , it will come out “ and forewarned , then out them . dream on...
He can be made to testify if one of the committee’s subpoenas him.
But that would be well in the future.
For the purpose of the hearings next week, he’s off the hook.
We peon’s can speculate all we want. What those who watch what’s going on over a period of time know, every time there is a coincidence it’s not.
Testimony next week? Lying for Obama last week, an affair in the middle, Drone shot down(and covered up), It’s been a busy few weeks for the General.
My honest opinion is he may have melted down, a man like him has problems in La-La Land.
