I spent a great time talking to my sweet, but sometimes clueless daughters about the impact of this election. They tend to see themselves as more progressive - pro gay marriage, global warming, etc... (before you guys flame away, please know I did my best -- this is college academic influence on them). The sense I get from them and from my conversations today with friends and acquaintances, is that there seems to be a overwhelming atmosphere of regret or to be more graphic and explicit...an oh s__t, what did we just do attitude.
I don't see an in-your-face hurrah jubilation like 4 years ago (except among the DBM)...just a quiet, somber reaction. I wonder if you guys are sensing that and if so, is it registering in Washington? The dynamics are definitely different this time around and I hope it is seen as unsettling to those in power. I'm feeling an edge, a vibe of unrest, uncertainty.
I have a pedicure every month, my small indulgence. The shop I go to is owned by a Vietnamese man who I have talked to and am pretty sure he is a staunch conservative.
Like you I have decided that no libs I know of will get my business so today when I walked in I said.....Hey John did you vote for Obama? He looked at me, shook his head and laughed. He then asked me why. I told him I will no longer be contributing to people who are bent on our destruction. He nodded yes and said I understand.
Most of the people who come from communist countries or countries who have fought the commies really understand.
It is going to bring down everyone. I work at a library heavily dependent on property tax revenues where there had already been talk of layoffs and sick to the back of my teeth. Boss and some co-workers were as giddy as 2008. Whatever. The only upset I overheard was a deeply embarrassed black custodian. I can’t even imagine the horror of a racial association. He mentioned the president practically selling papers out of the White House that were playing “Russian Roulette” with our lives.
“I only wish they had won the House as well.
Let them take 100% responsibility for the giant cluster F that is about to occur.”
Agree. I told my daughter who has an Obama loving boyfriend that I almost hope that our GOP reps in the House walk out and allow Obama carte blanche. Let the populace experience the aftermath and it may shock them into sense. I think an inoculation of socialism is better that turning up the heat slowly on the boiling frog which we have experienced for the last few decades.
She kind of freaked when I said that. It was as though she realized that maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to have 20 somethings setting our national agenda. I hope all these kids are incredibly unsettled.
Mourning in America - Here’s Those Layoffs We Voted For Last Night

In Fiscal Year 2011, the federal government collected $2.303 trillion in tax revenue. Interest on the debt that year totaled $454.4 billion, and mandatory spending totaled $2,025 billion. In sum, mandatory spending plus debt interest totaled $2.479 trillion exceeding total revenue by $176.4 billion.
For Fiscal Year 2012 which just ended 37 days ago, that shortfall increased 43% to $251.8 billion.
In other words, they could cut the entirety of the Federal Governments discretionary budget no more military, SEC, FBI, EPA, TSA, DHS, IRS, etc. and they would still be in the hole by a quarter of a trillion dollars.
The US government is legally bound to spend more money on mandatory entitlements and interest than it can raise in tax revenue. It wont make a difference how high they raise taxes, or even if they cut everything else that remains in government as we know it.

My experience in ‘08 was similar to yours.
I’m having a hard time mustering up any sympathy for most of the people on the east coast, simply because the majority of them got the government they deserved. Their own policies and electoral choices have hindered their ability to recover, and I’m wondering if it might be good for them to get mugged good and solid by their own choices so they will get their heads screwed on straight. Might be the teacher in me, but this is a “teachable moment”.
For those who are not complicit in the bad governance, I am so sorry that they have to be stuck to the same fate as the others. Just like I’m sad that my kids’ future is similarly tied to the ball and chain of all the idiots who voted for Obama.
People hate to admit mistakes. It’s just human nature. Don’t expect to hear any regrets. Fifty+ years of leftist academics poisoning our children has finally met their objective, clueless sheep that regard our history and constitution as a joke. Does anyone have any ideas on how to reverse this reality? Are we too far gone?
I am interning at a very large nursing home where most of the nursing staff is AA or african. Was really dreading to go in today, figured they’d be whooping and hollering. They WERE smiling and seemed to be in very good moods. Some did opening discuss it, not seeming to wonder if I perhaps sitting there was a person who was not too happy abot the result ....but there was no crazy crap or hollering going on. One guy couldn’t stop runnning his mouth about it, and many of the older folks were talking about it ...but more of them are demented, lol.
“Because its not about Obama..look at the black community..what the hell has Obama done for the black community..absolutely NOTHING..unemployment amongst blacks is the highest in the nation yet they support Obama overwhelmingly..because why..I have no idea..maybe they think they will get reparations..but I think its because they will continue getting freebies from the Govt..more Govt goodies means more Obama votes”
This is my biggest regret about Obama. I volunteer in the black community mentoring a foster college kid and a 2nd grader. It grieves me (and I mean really grieves me) that Obama has squandered this opportunity to actually make a difference in the black community. I have no street cred with this population being a middle aged white woman. Could you imagine if the Obamas focused their efforts on truly encouraging success in school, marriage, being drug free in this community. Those of you are on the front line know what I’m talking about. The dysfunction is epic — unbelievable really. So sad that it’s about votes for them and not real change.
Deliberately decided NOT to delete FB Marxists . Keep your enemies closer...... Important to keep up with their criminal enterprise.
When I meet and greet them they often hear the old “Jewish curse, MAY ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE”.
Are we too far gone?
It would require those voting for Santa Claus for president to think and analyze what impact Democrat policies have had on our culture. I don’t think they have that capability.
Mitt had a proven track record of successful business turnarounds. In his personal life he is probably the most squeaky clean person to ever run for high office.
How did he fail to meet your standards?

I haven’t yet defriended any Obama voters but have been thinkin of it .. with a parting congratulatory wish for those young women who voted with their crotch: I hope they will be happy with their taxpayer funded contraceptives and (when those fail) with their taxpayer funded abortions. Just do NOT procreate.
Likewise. Screw ‘em. Sadly, a lot of good people will be screwed, too...
If they don’t now, they will.
What’s ITA?
The military is one of the few Constitutionally mandated federal duties.
