I just returned from my local poll in Virginia. In all my years here (19), this turnout was largest BY FAR. The longest line I ever remember was around 75 people. . .today, it was at least 500 and over an hour wait. I pray to God that this bodes well for Romney. Today, we will discover whether or not the adage "Its the economy, stupid" has been replaced with a new one "It's the HANDOUT, stupid!"
Uh, excuse me. I live there. And, no, I’m not.
I'll see you there!!
Fairfax County is as blue as it gets. Suburb of DC, all government workers. What there is of the private sector, is government-dependent private sector.
Is that a coal town?
Hey... I am wearing a Carhartt belt today... and I voted for Romney!
LLS
I’ll say it...
That area is full of Mexicans...legal and illegal.
The Republican party quickly formed and began winning a few elections here and there.
Today the Republican party continues to win but they do not dominate the county.
We’ve already decided in our family that if Romney wins we are going to church and getting down on our knees and thanking God for one last chance. We may be hung over from partying for a couple days in celebration but I think God will understand. Go R/R!
We had a long line here in Gulf Shores, Alabama also. The line went out the door across the parking lot, and down the side walk. Although once I got in line it didn’t take as long as I thought it would. What took my time was reading all the amendments we are voting on here in Alabama.
Thanks for the new tagline :)
US 1 has surprises. One of America’s largest settlements of African Africans is there ~ they own businesses ~ they work hard 24/7 ~ and Obama promised them in 2008 that the government would be taking over their employee’s medical insurance requirements. He lied. They’re getting revenge!
5 people is about the biggest line I’ve ever seen at my precinct. Today it was 30 to 35 people.
You noticed that too!!!
Actually, that area has a lot of hispanics, but comparatively speaking only a few of them are Mexicans. The majority are El Salvadorans, Bolivians and Peruvians. You can check the census figures and you can hear it in their accents.
it’s actually a place called Marumsco
Not really. Though Obama won here in ‘08, Frank Wolf (R) has never lost an election. And FFX is also the home of many military types and a huge contingent of defense contractors. And the National Rifle Assn. There’s a really good chance it goes back to red this year.
Let’s hope it’s true...it is for me! :)
I’m near Tysons Corner where I’m a poll watcher. Easily 100 ppl in line consistently since 6 am. Most ever. Thankfully, most have GOP sample ballot.
I have learned to go in with my list of how to vote on each one. State Questions & Judges the same, make one for hubby as well. Sure speeds up my time in there.
Alexandria last elected a Republican in the Civil War or something ~ Arlington is almost as bad. But in none of these counties are the majority of people, or voters, employees of the federal government.
