Iran has suspended the enrichment of uranium stockpiles to the 20% purity needed to bring it a short step from building a nuclear device, news services in the region have reported.
Mohammad Hossein Asfari, a member of parliament responsible for foreign policy and national security, was quoted as saying that the move was a "goodwill" gesture, aimed at softening Iran's position before a new round of scheduled talks with the United States after this week's presidential elections.
Asfari said he hoped sanctions would be lifted in return for Iran's actions, otherwise it would resume the programme, according to a website belonging to the Al Arabiya news channel. Talks aimed at halting Iran's enrichment programme have made little progress, leading to the west tightening sanctions and increasing the prospect of military action by Israel.
The Islamic republic's economy has plummeted in the grip of punitive economic measures and Tehran indicated earlier this month that it would be willing to negotiate. However, the offer to suspend enrichment required so many concessions that it was dismissed by the United States.

Obama cuts deal with Iran re nukes: (excerpts see entire article)
Iranian and U.S. negotiators have reached an agreement that calls for Iran to halt part of its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of many of the U.S. sanctions against the Islamic regime, according to a highly placed source.
In the meeting, according to the source, the U.S. delegation urged an announcement, even if only on a “temporary” nuclear deal, before the U.S. elections to help Obama get re-elected.
A Romney presidency, the delegation said, would surely move more toward Israel, and the Iranians were reminded that Obama has stood up to Israel against any plans to attack Iran.
The regimes delegate was urged to understand that if Iran does not stand by Obama, Israel will attack Iran.
In the Qatar meeting, according to the Iranian source, the American woman delegate, who has had several meetings with Velayati during the past several years, jokingly told Velayati that she will be the next secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in a second Obama administration and that it would be wise for Iranians to invest in U.S. real estate.
In the past five months, four meetings were held in the U.S. with the Islamic regimes surrogates to hash out what was to be discussed at the Doha meeting. The source identified Valerie Jarrett, a senior Obama adviser, as the head of the U.S. effort to engage Iran. Also identified was Cyrus Amir Mokri, assistant secretary of the Treasury Department forfinancial institutions, as another member advising the president on the issue.
Jarretts family has known the Velayati family since their stay in Iran in the 1950s, the source added. Jarretts father worked at the Namazi hospital in Shiraz, owned by an Iranian family that has been influential with the regime after the Islamic Revolution.

Sounds like they looked in the history books
and decided Obama = Carter.
Maybe they are telling us how they think the
election is going to go???
Because they’re done - already have it completed.
Iran has suspended floggings and beheadings, because their arms are tired.
Well that settles it - Zero is a foreign policy wizard and we must vote for him...
I like it
They sure aren’t doing it from fear of Obama.
And I’m 5’10” 125 pounds living in a seaside mansion with a Ferrari a rolls and a bentley in the garage!
Wow! This certainly proves that 0bama’s foreign policy works! lol
