(CNSNews.com) - The birth rate in the United States hit an all-time low in 2011, according to a report released this month by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The 2011 preliminary number of U.S. births was 3,953,593, 1 percent less (or 45,793 fewer) births than in 2010; the general fertility rate (63.3 per 1,000 women age 15-44 years) declined to the lowest rate ever reported for the United States, said the report.

How do things get changed if someone doesn’t crank?
We can spend all our time complaining and giving the same old suggestions, but it ain’t getting anything done about the problem, is it?
Wasn’t that folly exposed from the very beginning?
They already take a lot.
What have I said, that makes you think I am enamored of govt solutions? Right now, the only thing we have is a govt solution. How are those 1M+ illegitimate babies/yr going to live if not for the govt?
You got a solution that has a chance of happening before these kids become adults and do it all over again?
How do we do that?
Ha, ha! I guess you have a point.
I know

You’re being far too logical. Don’t you know that, somehow or another, it’s all mens’ fault? Always is.
40.7% of Babies Born to Unmarried Women
That is a number that will doom this country - and you can thank Democrats (Progressives) for it.
It didn't start with Murphy Brown. The real exponential explosion in illegitimacy rates--both White & Black--came with the agitations in the late 1950s & 1960s. I tracked the social breakdown in that era, and published articles on it.
The most obvious cause was the Egalitarian bias in American Education, which taught children that the older members of their families' thoughts on proper behavior were rooted in "prejudice" and could be safely ignored. The process can be described as "trashing grandma," and served to "free" young women of both major races, from standards of behavior that had favored traditional marriages as opposed to promiscuous breeding.

Women are more likely to leave the congregation in a huff if they dislike the preacher's message. Instead of focusing so much on women and calling them names, maybe we should take a look at the men and their attitudes.
The problem is, it just takes one (busy) man to impregnate a hundred women.
If we let things go the way things are, until finally the system breaks down, we will have civil war. Eventually the underclass will be exterminated. Is that your preference?
Why would that be my preference?
What should be done and how do you propose doing it?
Get enough taxpayers pissed off, and it will happen.
Those are good ideas. How do you educate the electorate and get enough taxpayers pissed off enough?
Poorly chosen, Laz. I’m going to give you credit and assume that your intended message is more about the slogan, “Work will make you free” than a suggestion that we put these people in death camps.
You definitely missed my point.
Pre-marital sex (and pregnancy) is as much a problem within the church as it is in the world.
“The problem is, it just takes one (busy) man to impregnate a hundred women.”
Do you really think men for the most part are virtuous in this area? That it’s men that want to wait till marriage, but women are pressuring the men to have pre-marital sex? And, on top of that, that it’s only a few men that crack under the pressure from women to have sex? Really?
As I understand it (I am a male, so I’m going off what this preacher said), most women in the church that lose their virginity prior to marriage (even if it’s to their fiancee) regret not having waited. And, most say they didn’t wait, because of pressure from the man.
If we can’t fix this problem in the church, we can’t fix it in society in general. If we can’t do a better job of pointing out the benefits of waiting (and dangers of not), then we won’t fix the problem.
