Btw, thanks for taking my statement totally out of context.
Seriously, it's just a bit of banter between Nelson an I about some specifics concerning storm surge prediction/damage carried over from another thread.
Nelson, If I've offended, please accept my apology.
Hope there are calls that people will say even though he did made a effort to gather people to get things done and prepare, he still dithered around campaigning and flew to Florida for no good reason ?

Me too. NELSON111, I have watched your posts like a hawk and appreciate them very much.
Well... I’d think that if people don’t have heat, and if there are not enough shelters, “chilly” could definitely become a complicating factor. I’d not be surprised to hear of some deaths by CO poisoning, and maybe some post storm fires caused by people trying to stay warm. Again, in a city like NYC, it’s a lot bigger problem than in a rural area. I’d think “Halloween” is pretty well cancelled already, for quite a few millions of people.
Even if it would help Obama, I sure hope this turns out better than what I am thinking. Maybe the worst of it is not as widespread as it seems, but having lived through a few limited area weather disasters, and a couple bigger ones, in the Midwest and Mid-South, I am under no illusions as to what’s confronting the people hard hit this time. Add some of the other insights we’ve read tonight, such as NYC’s “hub” role for the US, and the country may have a serious problem on its hands.
I think I’ll check posts one more time & better say g’night to all...
Would that be Metropolitan, the other public hospital in Manhattan? Funny, you never hear anyone say, “That nut case belongs in Metropolitan.”
So, I’m watching late nite/live Fox News..& they’re interviewing a “lady” who decided to ride out this storm & she admitted this wasn’t her first..anyway, Gregg Jarrett asked her something along the lines of if she felt bad or irresponsible by not only endangering her life but the first responders that could risk their lives by trying to save hers. Her response was typical of an Obama voter..it was almost as if she was offended that she was being asked to leave her home & she assumed the gov’t would come and save her.
I wonder how many of those are laying around the country. It was hard enough to get sufficient numbers here when they were needed for our ice storm (AR / S. IL / KY.)
We were out for as long as a week here too. But, life goes on, and you are in it together. I’m lucky, my itty bitty utility never loses power. It’s puget energy out here that goes down all the time. They suck.
Our disgraceful state is now 59% Obama - 35% Romney, although this was a Siena poll. It’s especially unfortunate because we have a great Senate candidate, Wendy Long, who will get squashed because of this ridiculous imbalance. We’re a borderline state—between stupid and moronic; it’s close.
Ok, NOW its ‘night to all for sure!
Thanks all for a great thread, tho’ I sure wish it’d never been necessary. :-(
Please tell us how the skies look, clouds look there because it looks like this storm and that front coming from the west is going to clash there in your area.
Harlem Hospital is another ‘public’ hospital in Manhattan. Throughout the city, HHC has 11 acute care hospitals, four skilled nursing facilities, six large diagnostic and treatment centers and more than 70 community based clinics.
