No. Gizmodo had an article about it.

We had a very Nast storm in January in w Washington. Trust me, it’ll look bad, but the clean up will amaze you, and you’ll all proudly work together. A few months later, it will be like it never happened.

Wow, horrible fire, no place to relocate those people except to a nearby garage. Wish people would listen & evacuate.

Maybe someone else has already updated this and I missed it?

Looks like one body recovered, 14 crewmembers rescued, from “HMS Bounty”, which did sink:

http://www.foxnews.com/weather/2012/10/29/coast-guard-monitoring-tall-ship-in-distress-off-north-carolina-with-17-aboard/?intcmp=obinsite

I didn’t realize this ship was actually THE replica used in the 1960 movie, “Muntiny On The Bounty”, and also in the film “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.” Son-of-a-gun. And prayers to the family of the lost sailor.

They say this might get expensive! 20 billion in damage!

Or, about 7 days of deficit spending.....

Makes you realize how bad the deficit is huh?

Yeah, the winds will spread that fire quickly but at least they are getting some rescues.

What’s worse is FNDY is having trouble getting units to the Breezy Point and 130th Street fires.

Guess you were wrong? We're all human! :)

NELSON111 has done an awesome job and we all know it. Thank you NELSON.

Errant, did you see the post that said yesterday, this is just going to be a little wind and rain storm? He also said that he would be safer in a lawn chair on the Atlantic City Boardwalk than he would driving on the highway! LMAO, well, not really. This is horrible. Many prayers have gone up this day.

Nevertheless, I just had to send a note back with pictures of the boardwalk floating in the flooded downtown streets.

p.s. Thanks again NELSON111 for your educated posts giving us insite into this horrible disaster.

I know this is minor but we lost our traditional broadcast network stations on Direct TV last night around prime time. We just got FOX back. They finally put up a technical difficulties notice on those stations. All of our cable type stations stayed on. Do think the outage stations feeds were all centered in NYC. Now I wonder what will happen in those areas that cant get these stations. They were all local for us but I know they're needed badly in the disaster areas. Sure could PO Obama as he desperately needs these stations to beat his drum this week.

The wind has been blowing from the northwest. When it blows from the southeast, it sends a lot of water up the Potomac. Lucky this time for Alexandria, but not clear until the next high tide etc. with all the water coming down the river from the rainfall that could cause flooding.

In NYC's case they would have to bring in those huge 100 -200 KW generators on truck beds.

is your reference to the old buildings with the courtyards? I lived at 77th/York (Pavilion) long time ago, and my mother grew up in the older bldg complex that has been so beautifully renovated. Memory is it got historic designation (having nothing to do with my mother’s growing up there). Guess that breach would flood the park?

What about the old electrical infrastructure ?.
I should have clarified my post more.
I know it's impossible to simply lift NY higher in elevation.
What I mean was their old sub way electrical infrastructure, general infrastructure.

What's strange is that they're putting people in a van for shelter. Maybe because they can turn the engine on and get heat? Power's out all over the peninsula, not heat, no lights, no running water, etc...

But half a block behind the reporter is a firehouse, why not bring them there?
