Here on Long Island, we have been having strong gusts of wind and rain...then nothing.
However it is not supposed to hit us head on until tonight through Tuesday.
These gusts now scare me. I’m in the suburbs and there is nothing but trees ALL around.
Parked my truck in the “most” safe spot.
The things you never think of.
God BLESS those men and whoever relieves them for the next shift.
Q Jay, some of the utilities are saying that the power is going to be out in some areas for up to 10 days, which would obviously include Election Day. Is there any contingency planning to alter the Election Day schedule because of this?
MR. CARNEY: I think that is not something I’m able to address. The fact is the storm is just taking effect now and having an impact now and making landfall I believe tonight. We have to focus on not the campaign and not the election, but on making sure that all federal resources are both prepositioned and in place to help states and localities respond to the storm, to help Americans who are affected by the storm. That’s our focus right now.
Q Would the President have the power to adjust Election Day?
MR. CARNEY: I don’t know the answer to that question. I think you’re getting way ahead of yourself here.
Q Some of the utilities are saying 10 days of power outage, like Virginia, for instance.
MR. CARNEY: I just don’t — I think we’ll have to take that question
Thanks, FR is so constipated.
NOVA - Steady, moderate rainfall with occasional gusts of wind (nothing very strong yet, though).
Praying for your folks, LQ. (big hug)
The elections are over a week away.
There’s no need to post pone them for most of us.
There are always mail in ballots for those in the hardest hit areas.
I hope they have some water wings or at least some floaty things so he and his crew can float.
Mist and windy in Red Hampshire at the moment...
We’re south of Boston about 3 miles from the ocean. The wind gusts are getting pretty strong but not too much rain. Drove over to the harbor this morning and the water was up into the parking lot. Plenty of flooded streets along the ocean.
We were amazed to see how many expensive pleasure boats were still on slips and plenty of commercial boats on moorings. They’ve evacuated most of the homes along the oceanfront but there are always people who refuse to leave. After seeing the size of the waves i would be out in a minute.
Thanks SaraJ...I am sure I’ll be fine. :)
Every time I’m tempted to complain about the snow we get every winter, something like this happens and I am FORCED to thank God that all we have to deal with is snow and my house is still standing.

You have to mail in a request for your mail in ballot. There is a cut-off time which may have gone by.
Then they have to mail you the ballot and you have to mail it back. I don’t think there’s time.
Here in Ocean County, NJ. Very windy. Lot’s of damage already, especially at the ocean front. Son in law is out doing emergency calls for the phone company infrastructure. Worse is yet to come. The rest of us are all hunkered down. Can’t believe the power has not gone out yet. 5000 without power so far in our town. It’s the first hurricane I have every been in (and there have been many) that I feel kind a little fearful.
Power just did that blinky thing.
Wildwood, NJ has had 3.67 inches of rain today and 4-10 inches are predicted. Flood warning in effect until midnight EDT.
In Northeastern Maryland, rain and wind, but not too bad yet. Still have power, and Internet! The Cecil County Emergency Services Dept posted on their Facebook page that they expect the I-95 and US-40 bridges over the Susquehanna River to be closed due to high winds. My traffic app still shows them open.
