BINGO !!

Hope Rush Limbaugh talks about this....
The 90 Billion wasted on those " Green " bankrupted industries could have gone to help upgrade New York's infrastructure..... need to say this FAR AND WIDE.

Breey Point on fire - on the west end of Rockaway.

FDNY is trying to get units there — thru 5 feet of water — Belt Pkwy closed but water is receeding.

Listen to FDNY live scanner: http://nycfire.net/qn

I heard St. Francis Church on 129th is in flames too

We saw convoys of power trucks going through WV today. We’re not having any problems here in Pt Pleasant, WV.

That is really good to hear. I'm embarrassed that you pinged me first. I was thinking of you, but got wrapped up in all the commentary and didn't stop to holler at you soon enough.

Actually, I sort of thought you'd be pretty far from the danger zone. Are you seeing any weather effects yet?

That’s true, parts of Long Island and the New Jersey coastline could be pretty bad when we finally get to see them at first light. Atlantic City was flooding as early as this morning. Parts of Queens (Rockaway area) are supposedly heavily flooded as well.

Now imagine all those major TV networks who have to find new temporary centers to broadcast their propaganda until the mess is cleaned up.

Hey NBC ? ABC ? CNN ? OBAMA'S FAULT!!

BOOYAH!

Hope they already have electric generators running those pumps because gravity feed or hand cranked pumps take much longer to unload that fuel. Now multiply that with thousands of people waiting in line for fuel just for generators.... it's going to be a mad house for sure.

Oh, I was only referring to the situation tonight (fuel for the hospital generators.)

In the longer run, yes. Gotta fuel the generators near the tanks so you can pump fuel for all. But that initial requirement is relatively small volume.

Of course, in most situations like this, most people don't have generators. So one of the first big lines, IF people can use them, is for the generators themselves. In the aftermath of our big ice storm, one of the "saving" things that happpened in our immediate area was that the local Home Depots each had a semi-trailer load of generators trucked in. The double lines for 'em looped all the way around the inside of the store...

Our disadvantage was being hit in midwinter. An advantage was being mostly rural to modest-size towns, and people here are better able and situated to adapt.

IN NYC, the population density creates HUGE problems. Tough to put a generator out on the back patio when you live on the 8th floor (or more.) Not to mention that all the generators warehoused in the U.S. surely are not nearly enough, now... And where would most people in the city keep one, anyway? It's one of many reasons I'd never live in a large city.

You would have needed a sea wall around Manhattan. It’s an island with subways and tunnels. What you expect to happen? The only reason Manhattan doesn’t look like Atlantic City is because it’s all high rises and quite a bit larger.

Are you going to start a live thread for the looting? As soon as daylight breaks and the gang bangers can get their butts out of bed. I bet the first reports hit 15 minutes after day break?

Watch the cops and guard stand... And do nothing. Obama will ask us all to be calm and resist violence.

Checking in from the Alexandria section of Northern VA. Even Old Town Alexandria didn’t flood, and they ALWAYS flood as the Potomac overflows its banks.

We lost power at 9pm but were restored by midnight. Terrific work by Dominion Power, with special cheers to the crews who go out in this mess lest we be without our creature comforts. Temps here are now down in low 40s, with snow to the N and W of here.

All public transit still closed down, while mgmt evaluates. Imagine everything will be close to normal by Wednesday.

Didn't Sandy sort of stay in the Gulf Stream until it made it's turn? I recall NHC saying something about it crossing the "North Wall" of the Gulf Stream, about a day ago, and not expecting much more intensification due to that.

(I could probably overlay some maps, but it's easier to just ask!)

I'm probably wrong, but I don't ever remember one heading this far North, and then abruptly turning and accelerating westward. Watching the GOES satellite loops and seeing Sandy make that turn and "take off" to the West was what really made me start thinking "uh-oh!"

The Democrat Voters are going to start feeding on each other just after first light.

Very unpleasant. Mayor Bloomberg says they can't use salt to improve the taste or large sodas to wash it down.

Like I said.... this IS Obama's Katrina... no matter how much they wanted to make it look like he was in charge, in control of the situation and preparation, they failed in other areas.

Can you imagine how bad conditions are going to be in New York City and the rest of the disaster zone by election day? Not to downplay their enormous loss of life and property, but the New Orleans (and Gulf Coast) Katrina disaster probably won't hold a candle to this.

By election day, Americans across the country are going to be calling for Obama's head, because it's a foregone conclusion that His Incompetency is going to make a royal mess of the clean-up.

Just remember there were NO hurricane warnings for many areas. Just high wind warnings.

Might be bit off topic but what are the overnight temps out there & what’s the power/heating situation? I’m thinking wind chill could be factor...
