I rest my case.
I don’t think this will be nearly as bad as New Orleans post-Katrina (at least, I pray it won’t). The water will recede more quickly and in most areas the flooding, while bad, isn’t as catastrophic as when the levees broke in NO. It will cause a huge mess, potentially billions of dollars of damage, and some deaths, but I can’t see it depopulating entire neighborhoods the way Katrina did to Chocolate City.

If anti-biotics for those kinds of infections are not attainable, keep Manuka Honey in your prep supplies.
See how easy it is, Mr. Boehner? :)
All true, but the better Texans more than make up for it with their good will and love for their fellow Americans.
'May it be on earth as it is in Texas.'
Fire in Bellevue Hosptial basement put out, but still electrical arcing. ConEd not available to cut power. Emergency generators our of fuel awhile ago and still in process of evacuation of hospital.
Thank you! It has been beautiful and sunny since we've arrived here. I'm happy to be here, although I hope we have an intact house when we return to CT.
We actually get down here once or twice a year (usually to visit the in-laws and attend Red Sox and Twins spring training games). We usually find ourselves on the Gulf side of Florida. We are in West Palm Beach for another day...
I would LOVE to FReep Obama / Clinton / Biden in Florida or anywhere else!
My husband and I have been greatly enjoying watching all of the pro-Romney, pro-Mack, etc. ads here in Florida. The commercials in this part of FL for Col. Allen West (vs Patrick Murphy) have been fantastic!
In deep-blue Connecticut, you'd never know a presidential race is going on. However we have been "treated" to a barrage of nasty ads in our US Senate race between WWE exec Linda McMahon (R) vs Rep. Chris Murphy (D).
Do you actually think that you are funny?
NY is an absolutely GORGEOUS state, tons of natural resources, great agriculture, very historical.
It has a lot to offer even though its government and winters suck.
Take care you all on the east coast. I am off to work. Won’t be able to post from there, but I can follow the thread. Be safe guys, just because the worst(according to the media) is over does not mean it’s safe to go out.
True, and (mostly) it's all in good fun. However, in New York's time of need, what are the red states doing? They're rushing every sort of aid imaginable to their fellow Americans. That's all that really counts.
Thx, wish my, dogs understood that!
The media hasn’t really been in a lot of the areas with catastrophic flooding.
A lot of the NJ/NY barrier islands are going to look like Mississippi after Katrina - multiple breaches in the islands reported.
And keep in mind that some 2-3 mile lengths of these barrier islands probably have more real estate value than the entire Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans did.
Mega dittos...
Multiple large fires raging out of control along coastal sections of Brooklyn.
Wow - impressive pic.
On another note, talk about surreal. I flipped the TV on, and Jimmy Fallon is doing his monologue... to empty seats in what would be the audience. He’s trying to be funny. Not too successful. Is this taped earlier? Can’t imagine he’d be saying this stuff “live”, given what is happening.

Maybe not precisely like this storm, but I lived in SoCal for half a century, and can remember multiple episodes of flash flooding, biblical rains, earthquakes, fire storms, and even some lesser events that caused widespread grief and damage.
And don't forget the riots. Plenty of them too.
The pimpmobiles have been flooded out, they can’t use the subway either, so their range is limited. Hopefully the good citizens of NYC have taken proper Second Amendment precautions...;)
