Hey Nutmeg, thanks for the ‘off scene’ report on this disaster. Positive vibes up for the protection and survival of your personal property. Hopefully, you’ll be able to contact your neighbors to get an update of the immediate damage, soon.

Pardon my stupidity, how bad would the water getting into the subway be?
You have no reading comprehension.
I never said it wasn’t a big rain storm. It’s (or was) a Category 1 (weak) hurricane and everyone wants to run in circles like its never rained before.
Relief agencies and help from across the country are mobilizing, even here from Texas. That is what Americans do.
They don’t act like its the end of the world like humans will be ruled by the cockroaches by Thursday.
I also do not think that it’s the job of other taxpayers to pay for anyone elses damages. That is what insurance is supposed to be for.
I wasn’t downgrading the storm, just the hyperbole.

I’m listening to NYC’s WABC. What a mess. Salt water in the subways, corroding everything, no lights. People are seeing transformers blowing all over. Already billions in damages. I’m sitting here in the dark myself, but I have heat, lights & water.
Libs are so disgusting (and predictable). Sadly, they don't see that the more vitriol they level against Romney, the more they reveal the blackened nature of their own hearts. I almost want to reveal the honest truth to them.
Thoughts and positive vibes up for everyone who's in the path of this killer storm.
This will likely end up being a costlier disaster than Katrina and 9/11.
So define “hyperbole?”

Local Storm Report by NWS OKX: Manhattan [New York Co, NY] broadcast media reports COASTAL FLOOD at 09:27 PM EDT — new york stock exchance trading floor under 3 feet of water.
Just got another Emergency Alert text telling me not to drive...like I have a car.
From what I understand, much of the electrical infrastructure of NYC is underground, so besides the subways being fuxored, I’d guess the electrical system in lower Manhattan will also be toast.
NY Stock Exchange and Mercantile Exchange might be impacted as well, which would be felt worldwide.
I've also read that many of said parts, if rendered unservicable for whatever reason, are not readily replaceable with off-the-shelf stuff.
Surely someone more knowledgeable can chime in, but lotsa folks might have some unscheduled time off this / next week, barring alternative transport arrangement.
They'd better hope like heck that their crane doesn't crash down into that church below. I hear it's a treasured relic. If the crane falls on it, no amount of commercial insurance is going to save their business.
