Has General Ham Been Fired? "Has General Carter F. Ham, commander of U.S. Africa Command, been fired for defying Leon Panetta on Benghazi?
Glenn Reynolds, the Instapundit, ran a piece Saturday afternoon titled "Interesting Rumor Concerning General Carter Ham and Stand Down Order." This piece is presented as a rumor. It suggests that General Ham was told to stand down from sending aid to Benghazi, that General Ham on his own decided to proceed, and that he was then relieved of his command. Remember, all rumor at this point.
On 18 October 2012, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta participated in a "DOD News Briefing on Efforts to Enhance the Financial Health of the Force." In his introductory remarks, Mr. Panetta said: "Today I am very pleased to announce that President Obama will nominate General David Rodriguez to succeed General Carter Ham as commander of U.S. Africa Command . . ."
Barone: Playing the Petraeus Card "Who denied the Navy Seals pleas for help in Benghazi? Bill Kristol, in a Friday Weekly Standard blogpost entitled Petraeus Throws Obama under the Bus, noted that the CIA put out a statement that No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate. Bill says that presumably this statement could not have been made without the express approval of CIA Director General David Petraeus and that we must conclude that Petraeus decided that he was not going to take the fall on this. It must have been someone higher up who did, Bill says, and concludes that President Obama must have given the order not to help.
.....................Petraeus has made a statement in public, at least through his spokesman, and one that is not helpful to the president. Why would he do that? I suspect it has to do with the warriors ethic of not leaving a fellow soldier behind. I am told that that is a very strong ethic indeed. It is something a civilian commander can sometimes do honorably, in the broad national interest of which he has been chosen by the people to be the judge. But it does not seem to be something that a solider, even a retired soldier like General Petraeus, believes he could honorably do. And he doesnt want anybody, now or when it comes time for his obituary to be written, to think that he has done so. If President Obama is shoved under the bus, so be it. Honor, as James Bowman has written and as George Washington and so many Founders believed, is paramount." [article also posits why Romney did not go for the Benghazi "bait" in the 3rd debate.]
It was either gross negligence or “evinces a wanton disregard of human life”.
As I watched Panetta give that statement, my take was exactly the same "guilty conscience".
I felt that Panetta wanted to say more, but is very afraid. I saw a very broken man. Someone needs to work on him and see if he has one ounce of decency left. I hope he will go to ISSA or whoever and request a full Protective Order, with guards.
For tomorrow. I’m too tired tonight.
Thank you very much, Cincinatus’ Wife!
Please ping your lists, everyone!
I believe there has been a Mutiny against Obama and he is trying to put it down as we speak. 2 Generals and 1 Admiral have been relieved of their posts lately.....http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2012/09/29/White-House-to-change-Afghanistan-generals/UPI-40981348934728/?spt=hs&or=tn
GET THE WORD OUT.
Did Obama Refuse To Aid Our Men In Benghazi?
“Just one hour flight time away were U.S. Air Force bases that could have been rousted in minutes to send fighter planes and attack helicopters that could have routed the attackers in minutes of fighting. As Investors Business Daily editorialized on October 24, Within an hours flight time from Libya, at the large naval air station in Sigonella, Italy, and at bases in nearby Aviano and Souda Bay, were fighters and AC 130 gunships that can be extremely effective in dispersing crowds or responding to a terrorist assault. But the order for the rescue never came. Maybe because Barack Obama did not want to offend Muslim sensibilities by such a show of force.”
No it isn't. I wouldn't be at all suprised if the Caligula-in-chief did exactly that.
Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods were in Benghazi as part of a security contractor force.
On September 11, they were ensconced in the safety of an annex location in another part of the city when they got word that the main consulate building was under fire and the diplomats there -- with an armed force of only nine people -- were overwhelmed by the deteriorating situation.
Doherty and Woods, along with other security personnel, left the secure annex and made their way to the chaotic scene, rounding up the consulate staff who were under attack and guiding them back to the second safe building.
It has been reported that as many as 30 personnel were rescued and escorted back to the CIA safe house.
SO WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE INDIVIDUALS?
They are ALL witnesses to what happened at both locations.
Are they being held incommunicado somewhere, like at a military installation in Europe?
Have they all been threatened and told not to speak to anyone....including their families?
Why is NO ONE even mentioned them or made the least effort to contact them???
Unbelievable that not ONE would have said anything to anyone and word of what happened would not have leaked out by now....unless someone put the fear of God in all of them.
Hillary, Obama and Company think that all they have to do is confuse, obfuscate, divert, deceive, and stall . . and if they do it long enough . . everyone will tire of it and they’ll be free to move on to the next “crisis” in peace. - Collateral damage; you know, locked up in “lock boxes” and stored in corners of these people’s heads.
Truth be told, Valerie Jarrett probably made the call....
Tonight the big question on FOX was, “Were those drones armed?” Mark Warner, answered that as a member of the Armed Forces Security Committee in the Senate, he refused to answer. To me that means, yes, those drones were armed and could have broken up the attack upon arrival on the scene.
My question is was that laser sighting that was aimed at the enemy gun position, meant for the drones? Can the drones hone in on a laser target?
I have been thinking about those drones being in the area, when they were needed and how that happened. My guess is - General Ham.
I was reviewing what we knew.
1. The Libyan head of State had issued a warning two or three days earlier.
2. One of the former Seals reported that he saw one of the Libyan guards, photographing the compoun the day before 9/10.
3. It was reported by Stephens or those with him on 9/11 that there were men outside the compound, watching. They feared for their lives.
4. Nothing happened until the Turkish diplomat, who was a dinner guest, left the building through the front door.
In other words, they knew an attack was coming and had called it in, at least the day before.
This is probably why General Ham was relieved of duty.
