Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has warned a group of UN-affiliated international election observers that they could be subject to criminal prosecution if they breach state laws by being within 100 feet of polling place entrances.
The US State Department issued a warning as well. No, not to the election observers to Texas:
International election observers planning to visit Texas polling places have full immunity from being arrested in the United States, the State Department said when discussing a letter from the Texas Attorney General.
Im not going to get into any kind of hypothetical situations or predict where this is going to go other than to say we have every expectation that this will be worked out and to state the fact, which is that under U.S. law they are eligible for immunities, said State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland. Reporters tried to get her to state explicitly that Texas could not arrest election observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), but Nuland would only reiterate that OSCE observers have full immunity.
Hey, its not like the State Department has anything else to worry about.
The observers will in part be looking for voter fraud and suppression activities by conservative groups. Theyre only monitoring conservatives because nobody on the other side of the political spectrum has been busted in a voter fraud scam since, oh Wednesday.
A list of where the observers will be stationed is here. Because this group is affiliated with the UN, the comptrollers of those listed cities would be wise to prepare to have to unpaid parking tickets on the ledger until the end of time.
You’re incorrect. Rangers and officers of various state attorney’s offices have higher law enforcement authority.
Anywhere else in the state other than Austin, they’d be run out on a rail.
These cities are ALL state capitols...those areas usually vote’ blue’...why state capitols?
Treasonist Clinton, do the UN observers enjoy the same immunity that you and your boss afforded Al Qaeda?
Imho, they are not here to prevent fraud. They are stationed at capitols, because state capitols will make better international news talking points. Here’s my hypothesis. Let’s say the reelection of the communist in chief is rigged to happen no matter how badly he’s doing in the polls. To maintain control over a “restless” US population “unhappy” with the “unexpected” results, “strong action,” possibly requiring international assistance (and PR), may be necessary, but at least we will “know” that election fraud didn’t happen, because the UN observers will tell us so. Its already in the script. The last thing these guys want is to actually see fraud. Imho. Suggests a possible counter strategy, doesn’t it?
My achin' ass they do! Besides, they may have "immunity" from the police and authorities, but that won't save them from We the People. And I'd hate to face an angry Texas mob ...
I hadn’t paid any attention to that........
That’s interesting.......

Who even knew there was an industry call International Affairs?
Sounds like a booty call for the leftards and a free trip to the US!
..it would be a big mistake to try to stop Texas--from doing anything...
These elections are state elections, not federal. So the Feds have no jurisdiction to order immunity.
I see that South Carolina is on the list. While not in Columbia, I will be a Poll Manager on election Day.
And I promise, I’ll go to jail before a UN SOB enters MY Station !!!!
You know, I have heard that name recently. Let me see...
Yep! Here it is.
It was prior to the 9-11 attack on the Benghazi Consult, in June I believe. She was making a statement on the trial balloons being floated regarding releasing Sheikh Omar abdel Rahman aka the blind sheik, who is serving a life sentence for the first World Trade Center bombing.
He is the leader of Gamaa Islamiyya, a well known terrorist group. In June, the State Department actually issued a visa to a member of that very same Gamaa Islamiyya again, this is a designated terrorist organization and met with him in Washington, as part of a delegation of Egyptian leaders. He is told by State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland, in reference to Sheikh Omar abdel Rahman, We neither had then, nor do we have now, any reason to believe that this particular individual who at the time of his application was a member of parliament would pose a threat to the United States
No threat? Odd, he is doing a life sentence in the federal slammer for leading the first World Trade Center bombing.
But Victoria is very clear here. He is "not a threat."
Yeah, THAT Victoria Nuland.
Now she is covering for for OSCE??
The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR)
Basically they appear to be the biggest busybody, stick-their-nose-in-your-business org on the planet.

But full immunity from being arrested in the United States?
Laughable.
Reporters tried to get her to state explicitly that Texas could not arrest election observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), but Nuland would only reiterate that OSCE observers have full immunity
Umm, don't think so Mizz Nuland.
Let's look at "Diplomatic Immunity" as it is practiced here in the u.S.
Diplomatic immunity is a form of legal immunity and a policy held between governments that ensures that diplomats are given safe passage and are considered not susceptible to lawsuit or prosecution under the host country's laws, although they can still be expelled. It was agreed as international law in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961),
In reality, most diplomats are representatives of nations with a tradition of professional civil service, and are expected to obey regulations governing their behavior and they suffer strict internal consequences (disciplinary action) if they flout local laws. In many nations a professional diplomat's career may be compromised if they (or even members of their family) disobey the local authorities or cause serious embarrassment, and such cases are, at any rate, a violation of the spirit of the Vienna Conventions.
The Vienna Convention is explicit that "without prejudice to their privileges and immunities, it is the duty of all persons enjoying such privileges and immunities to respect the laws and regulations of the receiving State." Nevertheless, on some occasions, diplomatic immunity leads to some unfortunate results; protected diplomats have violated laws (including those that would be violations at home as well) of the host country and that country has been essentially limited to informing the diplomat's nation that the diplomat is no longer welcome (persona non grata). Diplomatic agents are not, however, exempt from the jurisdiction of their home state, and hence prosecution may be undertaken by the sending state; for minor violations of the law, the sending state may impose administrative procedures specific to the foreign service or diplomatic mission.
The Convention does not cover the personnel of international organizations, whose privileges are decided upon on a case-by-case basis, usually in the treaties founding such organizations.
Yes, the u.S. is an active member of OSCE.
NO, there is no treaty. OSCE is a NGO, not a nation. Continuing...
Other categories of government officials (not international organizations) that may travel frequently to other countries may not have diplomatic passports or diplomatic immunity, such as members of the military, high-ranking government officials, ministers, and others.
There are some limited immunities for staff of international organizations. The following demonstrates the basic difference.
International organization category
Diplomatic-level staff of missions to international organizations
May be arrested or detained? No
Residence may be entered subject to ordinary procedures? No

So, Mizz Nuland, about that OSCE observers have "full immunity."
It is you that appears to be full... of "it."
Importantly, the The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) are joining “an additional 80 to 90 members of parliaments from nearly 30 countries.”
I suspect that this is a non-story, for several reasons.
First and foremost, American polling is very orderly, by about any standards. It is also “observer friendly”, because partisan poll watchers are fairly common.
Second, the internationals can “look but not touch”, but that is pretty well expected. They are also not supposed to make any comments on sight, just note if they see anything unusual.
And third, the internationals have already written two reports, one for if Obama wins, showing the election was totally fair and square; and a different one for if Romney wins, which may or may not claim extensive voter fraud.
Looks like it is time for some patriotic Texans to get in the face of these international observers. Just stand in front of them and talk. Don’t slug them, just...obstruct.
Enough of the BS. Two lone women don't have anything to fear from a Texas mob. This isn't Egypt.
"We are here to serve man".

It would appear that Kirsten Mogensen, who will be the UN monitor, along with Andrew Mc Entee in Columbus, Ohio has penned academic papers criticizing American journalists for getting emotional over 9/11, (the original attack, not Obama’s new one).
It would be nice if we could get some recent pictures of these interlopers:
