What would you think if you were told that the most bigoted, intolerant, hateful, and xenophobic political messages this election cycle are being spread by Obama supporters?
From ridiculing and disrespecting the Mormon religion to spreading secretly taped videos recorded by an Obama supporter in a Mormon church, those on the left are sanctioning this particular form of bigotry because its all for the cause: Obama.
Nowhere is this more obvious than in the media, where pages upon pages have been devoted to Romneys religion. Vicious, anti-Mormon rhetoric, ramping up in the final days leading up to the election, has been spread by MSNBC and CNN hosts, the New York Times (they have devoted an entire section of their website to articles about Mormonism), Washington Post, and the Daily Beasts Andrew Sullivan, to name a few. Yesterday, Breitbarts John Nolte revealed that Gloria Allreds October surprise client is spreading anti-Mormon hate around the Internet.
In one recent segment, which I took notes on right after the Tampa convention, Rachel Maddow, having attacked the religion in various ways and perhaps sensing her own intolerance, offhandedly remarked that everything she had said was ok because Romney mentioned his faith in his convention speech, rendering it fair game.
A quick perusal of the search results for Mormon on Salon.com, which resulted in 5 pages of results, reveals such headlines as Is Mormon underwear magic, What we should ask Romney about Mormonism, and Ann: Mormon missions are just like military service!

O...K...
So, this is what Catholics believe about the Mormons?
And their factual evidence is..............?
“Mormons believe in Jesus Christ of Nazareth as the Son of God, “
Mormons believe Jesus Christ is a son of God, same as Satan, and everybody else for that matter. Capitalizing “Son” is highly deceptive.
“that he was born of a virgin, “
Not after!
Brigham Young, second prophet and president of the LDS church said,
“The birth of the Saviour was as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook of flesh and bloodwas begotten of his Father, as we were of our fathers,” (Journal of Discourses, v. 8, p. 115).
Brigham Young also said, “Now, remember from this time forth, and for ever, that Jesus Christ was not begotten by the Holy Ghost,” (Journal of Discourses, vol. 1, p. 51).
Brigham Young said, “When the time came that His first-born, the Saviour, should come into the world and take a tabernacle, the Father came Himself and favoured that spirit with a tabernacle instead of letting any other man do it. The Saviour was begotten by the Father of His spirit, by the same Being who is the Father of our spirits,” (Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, 1857, p. 218).
Joseph Fielding Smith, stated
“The birth of the Savior was a natural occurrence unattended with any degree of mysticism, and the Father God was the literal parent of Jesus in the flesh as well as in the spirit,” (Religious Truths Defined, p. 44, as cited in the book, Mormonism: Shadow or Reality, by Gerald and Sandra Tanner, Utah Lighthouse Ministry, P.O. Box 1884, Salt Lake City, Utah 84110, bookstore at 1358 South West Temple, 1982, p. 260).
Joseph Fielding Smith said, “They tell us the Book of Mormon states that Jesus was begotten of the Holy Ghost. I challenge that statement. The Book of Mormon teaches no such thing! Neither does the Bible.” (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p. 19).
Bruce McConkie, who was a member of the First Council of the Seventy stated,
“Christ was begotten by an Immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers,” (Mormon Doctrine, 1966, p. 547).
“And Christ was born into the world as the literal Son of this Holy Being; he was born in the same personal, real, and literal sense that any mortal son is born to a mortal father. There is nothing figurative about his paternity; he was begotten, conceived and born in the normal and natural course of events,...Christ is the Son of Man, meaning that his Father (the Eternal God!) is a Holy Man.” (Mormon Doctrine, by Bruce McConkie, p. 742).
Heber C. Kimball who was a member of the first presidency said,
“In relation to the way in which I look upon the works of God and his creatures, I will say that I was naturally begotten; so was my father, and also my saviour Jesus Christ. According to the Scriptures, he is the first begotten of his father in the flesh, and there was nothing unnatural about it.” (Journal of Discourses, v. 8, p. 211).
“The man Joseph, the husband of Mary, did not, that we know of, have more than one wife, but Mary the wife of Joseph had another husband,” (Deseret News, October 10, 1866, as cited in the book, Mormonism: Shadow or Reality, by Gerald and Sandra Tanner, Utah Lighthouse Ministry, P.O. Box 1854, Salt Lake City, Utah 84110, bookstore at 1350 South West Temple, 1982, p. 261).
“lived a perfect life, performed miracles, suffered for our sins”
Lived a perfect Mormon life, suffered for our sins in the garden and not on the cross, and provided a salvation from the fall of Adam which is given to all regardless of faith or lack of faith, but otherwise to avoid damnation (which is defined as anything less than becoming a god) one must be baptized by “one with authority,” follow the Mormon commandments, learn secret handshakes, tithe 10 percent of your income, wear magic underwear, sustain the LDS prophets, and get your Temple Recommend in the first place so you can do all of that.
“That makes us Christians,”
Then so are the Baha’i, who believe their guy was the second coming of Jesus Christ.
“We use the Bible and in fact a recent study shows the average Mormon is more knowledgeable about the Bible than the average Evangelical.”
Probably a Mormon study, since I’ve never met a Mormon who ever quoted the Bible when it came to the existence of only one God. In fact, most Mormons who even bother to mention the scripture tell me all the Apostles got it wrong, especially the Apostle Paul for some odd reason.
You know what?
All of you who are know all be all about faith and religion,
All of you who are not bigots, but claim everyone else is,
All of you who think you’ll be in heaven but those who profess the “wrong” religion are condemned to hell,
All of those who think their religious views are the end all be all of faith and country...
Bite me.
Your denomination agrees with the Catholics on Mormonism.
Regarding Romney’s stances on abortion and immigration, I too thought he varied a great deal from me. When he got the nomination, I started researching him more and was happily surprised at the following. He is still not as conservative as I would like, but he is far better than I originally thought.
Governor Romney was presented with legislation concerning life issues on several occasions from the 85% majority Democrat Legislature in Massachusetts. In every instance he took the pro-life position by vetoing bills or lobbying for the pro-life approach, including the following actions:
He vetoed the bill providing state funding for human embryonic stem cell research
(Theo Emery, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney Vetoes Stem Cell Bill, The Associated Press, 5/27/2005)
He vetoed a bill that provided for the morning after pill without a prescription because it is an abortifacient and would have been available to minors without parental notification and consent
(Governor Mitt Romney, Op-Ed, Why I Vetoed Contraception Bill, The Boston Globe, 7/26/2005)
He pledged to veto any bill that would expand access to RU-486, the abortion pill
(Hugh Hewitt, Interview with Governor Romney, The Hugh Hewitt Show, 7/27/2005)
He vetoed legislation which would have redefined Massachusetts longstanding definition of the beginning of human life from fertilization to implantation
(Governor Mitt Romney, Letter To The Massachusetts State Senate And House Of Representatives, 5/12/2005)
He supported parental notification laws and opposed efforts to weaken parental involvement
(John McElhenny, OBrien And Romney Spar In Last Debate Before Election, The Associated Press, 10/29/2002)
He fought to promote abstinence education in public school classrooms with a program offered by faith-based Boston group Healthy Futures to middle school students. Gov. Romneys administration was the first in Massachusetts to use federal abstinence education funds for classroom programs.
(Office of Gov. Mitt Romney, Romney Announces Award of Abstinence Education Contract, Press Release, 4/20/2006)
Governor Romney: Times of decision are moments of great clarity. Before I was Governor, the life issue was just that, an issue. But when responsibility for life or ending life was placed in my hands, I made the right decision. I chose life.
(Governor Mitt Romney, Remarks At The National Right To Life Convention Forum, Kansas City, MO, 6/15/2007)

You call it "judging Mormons"; I call it discerning MormonISM...
If you applied that consistently, you apparently wouldn't discern homosexuality as being problematic because that would be "judging homosexuals." I call it discerning an immoral unhealthy lifestyle that equips our generations to come to not follow that same pathway.
His stance on abortion and immigration does not agree with mine...Bashing a moral person because of his religion or lack thereof would be true bigotry.
You know, Paul Ryan, in the debate, said his view on the sanctity of pre-born children was at least partly informed by his religious worldviews...which means he takes issue -- what you apparently call "bashing" -- with a pro-abortion perspective. I Indeed critique, in part, Romney due to his pro-abortion worldviews and practices. And like Ryan, all that is partly informed by the revelation of the Bible.
You smugly reduce that to bashing due to religious differences.
I also don't think it's very "moral" to call yourself a "god-in-embryo" -- as temple Mormons believe ... (15-20% of all Lds are temple Mormons like Mitt Romney)
In fact, if Sarah Palin announced tomorrow that she was a "god in embryo," the left AND right would descend upon such arrogance and hubris...but because Mitt is a Mormon, he's rec'd a free pass on all this...
Mitt went on record Dec of 07 saying he hasn't turned away from the "faith of his fathers"...Let's take a look about what they say about how temple Mormons are "gods in embryo":
The truth is man is a child of God a God in embryo. Mitt Romney's father's cousin, Marion G. Romney one of the top three Lds hierarchists a generation ago...in Conference Report, April 1973, p. 136; or Ensign, July 1973, p. 14).
* "What is [man]? He had his being in the eternal worlds; he existed before he came here. He is not only the son of man, but he is the son of God also. He IS a God in embryo, and possesses within him a spark of that eternal flame..." (3rd "prophet" John Taylor, The Gospel Kingdom, pp. 52-54, as cited in Teachings of the Presidents: John Taylor, p. 2, 2001 -- compiled & published by its "intellectual reserve" publishing trademark).
* "If we take man, he is said to have been made in the image of God...being his son, he is, of course, his offspring, an emanation from God...He...came forth possessing, in an embryonic state, ALL the faculties and powers of a God." (Taylor, The Gospel Kingdom, p. 52, as cited in Teachings of the Presidents: John Taylor, p. 3, 2001).
Many people know of Spencer W. Kimball, the 12th "prophet" of the Lds church (1973-1985), as the man who allowed blacks to become Mormon priests in 1978.
But did you know Mormonism teaches you are all "gods in embryo"??? (And Kimball was one of its key proponents)
Did you know that Mormonism teaches the false "gospel" of self-transformation -- of pulling yourself up by the bootstraps to become a god? (And Kimball was one of its key proponents)
Spencer W. Kimball on these very topics:
1969 "Being a GOD IN EMBRYO with the seeds of godhood neatly tucked away in him, and with the power to become a god eventually, man need not despair...he must...transform himself..." (Spencer W. Kimball, The Miracle of Forgiveness, pp. 173-174)
A couple he was advising in Kimball's office "did not understand that forgiveness is not a thing of days or months or even years but is a matter of intensity of feeling and transformation of self...This couple seemed to have no conception of satisfying the Lord, of paying the total penalties and obtaining a release..." (Ibid, p. 156)
To Kimball, you had to "pay the total penalties" for your sin -- vs. that being a role occupied by the true Jesus Christ.
September, 1974: Man can transform himself and he must. Man has in himself the seeds of godhood, which can germinate and grow and develop. As the acorn becomes the oak, the mortal man becomes a god. It is within his power to lift himself by his very bootstraps from the plane on which he finds himself to the plane on which he should be. It may be a long, hard lift with many obstacles, but it is a real possibility. Source: http://speeches.byu.edu/reader/reader.php?id=6057 (Spencer W. Kimball speech entitled Be Ye Therefore Perfect 9/17/74 devotional address @ BYU)
1975: Man is created in the image of God. He is a GOD IN EMBRYO. He has the seeds of godhood within him, and he can, if he is normal, pick himself up by his bootstraps and literally move himself from where he is to where he shows he should be." Source: http://emp.byui.edu/marrottr/LovevsLust.pdf, "Love vs. Lust," Spencer W. Kimball, Provo: BYU Publications, 1975
November 1977: Self-mastery, then, is the key, and every person should study his own life, his own desires and wants and cravings, and bring them under control. Man can transform himself and he must. To be perfect, one can turn to many areas as a starting place....As we have stated before, the way to perfection seems to be a changing of ones lifeto substitute the good for the evil in every case. Ya’ll win. I lose.
happy now?
In fact, I don't care how the Mormon faith differs from my own because my vote is for this COUNTRY.
Regardless of Romney's religion, he loves this country. That can not be said of obama.
Vote as your own bigotry leads you. Your efforts to lead me to bigotry and hatred are in vain.
Blah..blah..small potatoes when compared to what we face with another four years of the boy-king.
Wow! You slice-and-dice like a pro-abort lefty!!!!
You and your original source for this would be quite corrupt if they parlayed this info without context...but I'm going to assume that you took it from a corrupt source -- rather than youyour own research vs. taking somebody else's @ face value)
Tamzee has just totally lost his/her credibility on this subject.
I know what you mean. I was going to vote for Romney anyways out of pure desperation to get Obama out and just considered it a huge plus that he seems to actually like this country, but it made my vote a lot easier when I researched his record as Governor :-)
Plus... I just LOVE posting it all because it drives certain people absolutely ballistic LOL
Stuff it, darlin’... the health-care bill that Romney signed did not contain the word abortion even once.
So you want to try to pretend that Romney bears responsibility for abortions that the Mass courts added to the state health care without him, because “it opened a door”?
Then you yourself certainly own even greater responsibility for the future massacre of babies in this country since you are lobbying so hard to keep a man in the White House that THREE times voted against the Born Alive act.
Oh, so ... A perm Planned Parenthood rep-overseer -- would ensure it'd ne'er expand into the abortion arena, eh...is that what you're selling? By not vetoing that Planned Parenthood rep, he knew that PP rep & the rest of the advisory board would be setting the abortion standards for coverage.
Your claim that "abortion" is not in the bill is just like ObamaCare's "details" emerging later...and it's rather sickening to see you play this socialist game with language and lives.
So you want to try to pretend that Romney bears responsibility for abortions that the Mass courts added to the state health care without him, because it opened a door?
"Added to?" The Courts had already addressed the need for abortion coverage in MA pre-RomneyCare, but 'twas based on Medicaid standards of rape and incest only.
Romney & his cohorts keep hiding under the "courts mandated this" ... failing to divulge how few -- %-wise -- those mandates covered in the # of overall abortions.
Ping!
Right. Your slogan perhaps is "Intolerance for me; for not for thee?"
So because I don't "tolerate" potential leaders of the free world who pretend they are "gods in embryo," that's intolerable for you, eh?
And so you go on the accusation trail of intolerance & label other posters as "bigots."
Well, that's the easy way out for you:
Liberals & homosexual activists don't like having to deal with concerns raised about the Biblical and health concerns presented about homosexuality. Their response? Just "write off" those concerns as that raised by a "bigot." (Then they don't have to deal with the concerns themselves; they can simply dismiss them by labeling, liberal-like, the bearer of such concerns)
By way of parallel, that's what you've also done on this thread, KittenClaws. You apparently don't like having to deal with concerns raised about the Biblical and spiritual health concerns presented about Mormonism. Your response? Just "write off" those concerns as that raised by a "bigot." (This way, you don't have to deal with the concerns themselves; you can simply dismiss them by labeling, liberal-like, the bearer of such concerns)
Congrats! You've graduated from the Liberal School of Discourse!
Wow, I’ll be looking for the responses to that.
Nope. You are either ignorant or deceitful, not sure which, but I’ll help you out anyways.
The MassHealth Payment Advisory Board that Planned Parenthood got a spot on has nothing to do with making policy or determining covered procedures. Zero. The only thing it does is review payment rates and make recommendations. It doesn’t even have any authority over rates. Zip authority over anything.
