A focus group of undecided voters appeared to be split over Mitt Romney's debate performance on foreign policy Monday night, with some saying he failed to distinguish how he would do things differently from President Barack Obama and others saying he finally came across as more "humane and relatable."
The group, appearing on Fox News' Sean Hannity show along with Republican strategist Frank Luntz, declared Obama the overall winner of the debate when the two candidates stuck strictly to foreign policy and military issues.
But when the debate veered into economic policy as a national security issue, most in the focus group said Romney was more credible than the president.
"Mitt Romney . . . is capable of taking this country and turning it around. And once we have that, we'll have more security. We need that security," said one woman in the group.
"The reality of the situation is foreign policy is secondary to our dreadful economy," a man in the group said. "And Mitt Romney has a plan to improve the economy. Obama does not."
"It's Obama's Achilles heel," added another group participant.
"Mitt Romney is aware that the economy is the major issue, so he keeps bringing it back to that because that is what appeals to most voters," another voter agreed.
In summing up the consensus view that seemed to emerge from the group, one man said, "I think the president did well tonight. I expected him to do well, he did well on the foreign policy. But I do agree it's not about the foreign policy in this election, it's just about the economy."
Asked to weigh in on how Romney came across to them in the debate, one woman voter offered this view: "Wall Street-driven. Certainly not a well-rounded leader."

And the lib morons that eat that up scares me. I know, I've got lib relatives harping like seals after Obama said that.
They weren’t the brightest bulbs out here in voter land.
If you are undecided at this point, you should not deserve to vote.
This is not like looking into the refrigerator and trying to choose between two different things to make for dinner. Elections like these determine how our livelihood will be for the next four years, and even more in this case!
The fact that people don’t educate themselves is appalling. It would be a benefit to our country if at every election, voters were required to take a knowledge test to see how informed and knowledgeable about the current issues and potential consequences with either candidate.
Yup, that’s what I saw too. Mostly they believed that Obama won the foreign policy (read military) part of the debate but Romney won economic issues. The majority said that economic issues were much more important at this time. One more note, 90% of them voted for Obama last time which just means that those are all mostly voters Obama isn’t re-convincing which is ultimately good.
You can't have too many knives.
Yep, you’re correct about bayonets. They’re standard issue with combat gear. So, bayonet ratio vs combat troop is still 1:1, same as always. About the number of ships in the navy; china is flexing its muscles in the pacific and has a goal of having a deep water navy. So, our navy’s role and responsibilitys have increased and not decreased. But, maybe not in obamas eyes.......
No one on this particular panel was undecided, they almost came to blows a couple times! Luntz needs to vet these people a little better.
So do the USMC and the SEALS.
Hand to hand still happens, perhaps in Benghazi.
Soldiers and MARINES are not game pieces, even if ObaMa/Jarrett think they are, no?
If you are undecided two weeks before the election you are either brain dead or an idiot, or a liar.
Not as brain dead as someone who decided to vote for Obama.
At least if you’re undecided you’re showing some signs of intelligent life as opposed to an Obama voter.
I think Luntz went to the nearest trailer park to get this group, I wasn’t impressed by the the quaility of this group.
Most of them sounded like they live in New York. I’m guessing that they are decided in how they will vote in new York and are playing Luntz on how they will vote in Florida.
...”Another woman, who voted for Obama in 2008, said she’s having second thoughts about supporting him now because, “I actually found [Romney] to be more humane and relatable tonight.”...
HUMANE AND RELATABLE???? When Mitt Romney was chosen to be the GOP candidate, I was not excited because I really did not know anything about him and, as time went on the Democrats used that very lack of knowledge which was widespread, to demonize him, and to make a cartoon character out of him for months and months. I knew then that Mitt Romney was someone they feared..Now that I know who he is and what he is (gave away most of his income to charity and has been a humanitarian all his life), I see him as potentially one of our greatest Presidents if he gets the chance. He definitely has a complete grasp on ALL the problems we face both here and in Foreign Policy..HE TELLS THE TRUTH! He is not about demonizing Obama or the Democrat Party..He simply tells the truth and the chips fall where they may. America is burned up with envy and strife from a President who has spent his time in office dividing us, one from the other, and mostly through racism charges which is, to me, a great sin against our people as we are today. Mitt Romney is a man who loves his country, knows why and how we have achieved freedom and prosperity and he understands why politicians have wasted that freedom and that prosperity to bring us all to the brink of poverty and revolution. How this election could even be a contest in the mind of any American of any race is a mystery to me. We are human beings, on this planet at the same time in history and, to be sure, there are problems, but they are age old problems of ugly human nature which wants to enslave others and to pick and choose life’s winners. That kind of thing, run amok, will result in the same unimaginable horrors going on right now in Libia, Syria, Egypt and other parts of the world. If we do not care about what happens over there today, then tomorrow it will be on our doorstep. God, please give America a chance to right the wrongs and to keep the freedom you so graciously allowed us to have for 200+ years.
The so-called undecideds we’re so partisan they nearly came to blows. Now that would have been some good TV.
At the end of the day, almost all of them said the economy was more important than foreign policy, and a majority said Mitt won the debate on economic issues. Advantage Mitt.

Basically, this!
It’s hard for a challenger to “win” a debate on foreign policy against an incumbent even if there is an unpopular mission going on...people naturally wanna side with the troops and military and therefore the president.
No it means what it says. The ECONOMY is what they’ll be voting on and on that issue they think Romney will do better.
This is FL anyway...they’re not even close anymore. It’s going R.
The black lady on the second row left side did not change her mind, and the blond front row right side did nopt change her mind....
