Does anyone find it odd that Michelle was not there? Serious question. Wouldn't a normal man say his wife was ill, or offer her apologies or something? What the heck?

I thought that very odd, also. Did you notice the empty plate to the left of Obama?...so she must have been expected to attend. She may have figured it would be too difficult to keep her phony smile pasted on that long. Hope Fox or some other news media enlightens us.
