The State Department has said that it never believed the September 11th attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was the result of a protest over an anti-Islam movie - directly contracting the rest of the Obama administration.
By trying to distance her department from the inept and deceptive handling of the Benghazi attack, which left U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens and three other American officials dead, Hillary Clinton could help herself politically for a 2016 presidential run.
A dramatic new account by the State Department reveals that Stevens was locked inside a 'safe room' choking to death from diesel-heavy smoke as the building around him burned to the ground.
Alongside him was a security guard, tasked with the impossible choice between staying in the deadly room - or facing the rocket-propelled grenades and machine-guns outside.
Eventually the guard slipped through the window (cut)
No-one saw the ambassador alive again - another agent tried desperately to enter the safe-room, but could not find him anywhere.
The State Department's insistence it never bought the story - expressed by the White House and Susan Rice, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations - that a crude anti-Islam film made in California triggered the attack gives ammunition against Obama both to the Romney campaign and congressional Republicans.
State Department sources have said that Clinton has never forgotten that Rice, who served in her husband Bill's administration, was an early supporter of Obama. Rice has ambitions to take over from Clinton if Obama is re-elected but the Benghazi debacle could scupper her chances.
In a briefing on Tuesday, State Department officials said 'others' in the executive branch concluded initially that the attack was part of a protest against the film, which ridiculed the Prophet Muhammad. That was never the State Department's conclusion, reporters were told.

How much you want to bet, that the person they claimed slipped out, was the son of the woman who has gone on television calling the administration a bunch of liars.
An account given to at the closed news conference (which excluded Fox) last week concurs with this. That when the smoke was too stifling, they realized they would have to leave the safe room at the consulate. One of the guards exited via a window. Someone went back inside to get Sean Smith (the son of the woman to whom you refer) and found Smith dead of smoke inhalation. Smith was dragged out and someone returned to find Stevens. Stevens was not located after a search, so they left the consulate in an armored vehicle and went to the annex.
The person giving the account was not aware of what happened to Stevens after they left the safe room and could not locate him again.
There is a whole account of this posted somewhere. Very interesting.
To secretly slip out from. Don't you read your intel reports?
It was the Libyan president who came out with the truth telling the world it was not a youtube protest; rather a terrorist attack. Otherwise, the lie would have won the day.
Had it not been a presidental race period, the press, the GOP and DNC would have circled wagons around the youtube video protest lie. The Obamaites are accutomed to getting away with treason and murder in the name of the religion of peices/war on terror. Anything goes.
They are arming terrorists in Syria, too.
There have to be hundreds of fed up State Department professionals eager to drop leaks to the media. The Dems and the msm will not be able to sit on this one for very long.
It’s really a big deal to State department employees when their own p.c. global ideology results in their own murders. I say we give the State Department and White House Libyan muslim security forces like they gave to the Libyan ambassador. Put the Paneta and his Generals on the Afghanistan bases with the armed Taliban they’ve put there with our troops. Also, suspend their first amendment right to complain about living with their own Muslim love ideology as they force Americans to do.
I assumed that she wanted no part of it when Susan Rice came out of no where and started doing the talking. I could just imagine Hillary telling BO to screw off, she wouldn’t be part of that cover story.
Had heard that Fox News wasn’t invited on the press conference call. The admin really cant handle the pressure that the truth of their actions are being exposed. It really shows how guilty they are. This administration is so in over their head. But, I truly believe that Romney will win this election. The citizens of this great country are tired of the Obama admin corruption.
What they should have had was a tunnel out.
I don’t think the election has anything to do with the out cry over the deaths and act of war on on our embassy. The media and democrats want to say it’s being politicized as a means to try and shut down the investigation. The same way they cry racism, now they are trying to intimidate the motivation of the investigators by crying ‘they are
Politicizing the murders’. Heck no! There is no backing off, Americans deserve answers and the truth!
Is Hillary “lawyered up” yet?
I don’t know ANYTHING....Why did Sean Smith think they would maybe die taht night???
Can these missiles take down drones? I would think so...
If the drone is low enough. The missiles have a limited range. But the advantage of drones is that they fly so high no one notices them anyway. Presumably most jihadis don’t have radar.
Author Ed Klein: As Benghazi blame nears Hillary, Clintons grow furious
Hillary lied during service with dead heroes present, case closed, she is every bit as evil as Obama, Bill and Hill share same values as Obama.
I hear so called Conservatives speaking highly of the Clintons, far to often, will come back to haunt us.
Meaning Hillary was ‘in’ on the hostage exchange (blind sheik for ambassador) from the beginning. Low security in high tension area? There’s a reason to ignore protocol when there’s a plan in place. (Did Obama really think a hostage exchange would benefit his reelection?)
