Obama's Libyan Debacle
Washington Post ^ | 10/12/2012 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 10/13/2012 4:34:25 AM PDT by gotribe

The Libya debacle is not merely a case of inadequate security. It is a case of willful blindness to the progress of al-Qaeda in a locale that the Obama team had boasted was a grand success for its “leading from behind” strategy. The administration despite every available bit of evidence continued to cling to a false narrative, and repeat that narrative to the public, because it refused to recognize that Libya was a terrorist victory, not a U.S. success story.

SNIP

In August 2012, the United States knew that Libya had become a terrorist hell hole. In a Library of Congress report, we then knew:

Al-Qaeda has tried to exploit the “Arab Awakening” in North Africa for its own purposes during the past year. Al-Qaeda Senior Leadership (AQSL), based in Pakistan, is likely seeking to build a clandestine network in Libya as it pursues its strategy of reinforcing its presence in North Africa and the Middle East, taking advantage of the “Arab Awakening” that has disrupted existing counterterrorism capabilities. Although AQSL’s previous attempt to co-opt the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) was inconclusive, the Libyan Revolution may have created an environment conducive to jihad and empowered the large and active community of Libyan jihadists, which is known to be well connected to international jihad.

As many opponents of U.S. involvement in Libya had warned, al-qaeda was flourishing in Libya. (“[A] few hundred” jihadists were operating there, according to the report.) The report noted, “Al-Qaeda’s clandestine network is likely recruiting local militiamen in order to infiltrate and manipulate militias, which are expected, at least for a while, to maintain their armed capabilities and political clout.”

It was NOT blindness.

Even the cartoonists understood the entire US Congress
is guilty of treason with Obama, for letting him help al Qaeda.

Of course not. obama views these militants as freedom-fighters, in keeping with his and his father’s meme. This is tragically wrong-headed thinking that will endanger the lives of innocents around the world and plunge the middle east into a era of terrorist control. We don’t have enough bombs and troops to stop it once it gets rolling.

For the life of me I cannot get over them hiring an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood to guard the Embassy.

I cannot get over Hillary having a member of a Muslim family as her “close” adviser and “companion”.

I cannot get over the Democrats in the Congress smiling and ignoring either of these things.I cannot get over Boehner and most Republicans smiling with them.

We need to replace the Democrats in Congress with Republicans-—yes-—but we need some new Republicans there too.Especially a new Speaker of the House.

By the way has anyone heard from him lately? Has anyone actually heard him endorse Romney? If silence is Golden Boehner is Goldfinger.

He didn't specify, but in the context of what he was saying, it would be the State Dept. (I watched the hearing). The WAY he said it .... I don't think he'd argue with the answer "all of the above". It was a bombshell when he said it - made my blood run cold.

With the media we have today it is almost impossible to find out what is happening.

I do not feel Boehner is a strong Speaker, but I have to admit he has a lot against him when it comes to the media.

The existing media has actually done fairly well. The recent congressional hearings put it all out to see and the real pertinent parts have been well displayed.

There has been an endless stream of articles on Free Republic from all over. This one from the Washington Post is an example.

I do not think this article will be well received by the White House spinteam. It can not be spun.

Four Americans paid the price for the Obama administration's refusal to pay attention to inconvenient facts. The vice president and president are still spinning false stories, hoping they can ride out the next 3 1/2 weeks until the election. Unfortunately, too many in the media are playing along, refusing to finger the administration for a national security scandal that rivals the incorrect conclusion that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. In doing so, they fail their readers and viewers, and in the process destroy their own intellectual credibility.

The media no longer has intellectual credibility so there is nothing to destroy.

There latest point seems to be it would be a non issue were it not for Romney raising it during the political campaign!

Were I Romney at this upcoming debate and facing Il Duce when he will be at his sarcastic and boisterous best, I would ask one question: What did you know about this event, when did you know it, how do you prove it and I am prepared for your answer till Hell Freezes Over.

Most heinous crimes would be a non-issue if not for the 'inconvenience' of the police bringing them up...

....and had a cordial meeting with the Blind Sheik to discuss his release.....

Obama meets with Omar Abdel-Rahman (the Blind Sheik for those in Rio Linda) prior to release.

Obama: "OK Abdel-Rahman, I have my office looking for a good deal on a one way to Cairo"

Omar: "you may call me Omar"

Obama: "Thanks Omar...and I got you a disguise as those pesky FReepers have an eye out for you"

Omar: "Let me consult with you later on that"

Obama: "I got it covered, what with the FEMA camps and a billion rounds of ammo."

Omar: "Keep up the good work my brother from another mother"

Obama: "And how was your American culture field trip to a noodling competition ?

Omar: ..."I caught an alligator."
