Priorities: While our consulate in Benghazi was guarded by unarmed Libyan contractors making $4 an hour, our embassy in Vienna received an expensive charging station for its new electric cars to help fight climate change.
Even MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell says Vice President Joe Biden lied during Thursday's debate when he said twice that no one in the Obama administration knew that requests for extra security had been made by our Libyan ambassador, Christopher Stevens, and other members of our consulate in Benghazi. The State Department knew "in real time," as Mitchell put it in her post-debate analysis, that requests had been made.
The requests were denied, despite 230 security incidents in Libya between June 2011 and July 2012. With 48 taking place in Benghazi, two at the U.S. diplomatic compound where Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans were murdered on Sept. 11, 2012, a date that by itself should have prompted enhanced security.
What Biden was denying was pointed out by Eric Nordstrom during his testimony before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform last Wednesday. Nordstrom, a regional security officer of the U.S. Mission to Libya from September 2011 to July 2012, said that, among other things, he was told in a phone call in July that the deployment of the site security team, a 16-member American military unit based in Tripoli, could not be prolonged.
According to Nordstrom, the State Department not only refused his requests for greater security, but also actually reduced the number of Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) agents assigned to foreign service officers based in Libya. Security was left to one DSS agent, four armed members of the 17th of February Martyrs Brigade and unarmed Libyan contractors employed by the British-based Blue Mountain Group.

Even Angria Mitchell says Biden lied???? Ruh-roh.
Were these Volts part of the Republican budget cuts to the State Department budget we’ve heard about this week?
Come to think of it, there hasn’t been any budget, so they’ve been splurging on baseline-increased levels. That means, its just a matter of priorities. The Hillary dominated State Department thinks of security as an unseemly expense, at least for the distant embassies, if not for the higher ups, who travel in style with major protection.
108K for a charging station for a Volt? Don't the stupid thins just plug into a outlet? Glad to know we have our priorities in place.
the State Department authorized the U.S. Embassy in Vienna to purchase a $108,000 electric-vehicle charging station for the embassy motor pool’s new Chevrolet Volts.

It’s Austrian electricity, so they need to find translators according to Obama. ;>)
That's prolly what State thought too when they got vehicles. But IIRC, the European electrical system is different than our 120-240V 60Hz system.
Good night!!
I wonder how many of the few Volts that exist were purchased by the US government?
The Volt is sold in Europe as the Opel Ampera and is compatible with their electrical system.
So they buy Volts in the US and ship them to our embassies?????? If the charging stations cost $108,000 in Austria, what’s the total for our 200+ embassies? $22 million??? + the cars + the freight?
There’s a Volt parked in the US Embassy Panama motor pool and it’s going to stay that way because they didn’t get a charging station. That’s at least another year off anyway since an RFP has to go out, proposals evaluated, an award made, and finally the contractor installs the station—assuming the charging station ever shows up.
Hillary’s Presidential hopes have just expired.
Every place I've been in Europe it's 230 volts 50Hz. Motors and transformers intended for 60Hz will run a bit hot. Considering that a Volt probably sucks amperes like crazy, I would think a charging station would get very hot.
Four days after the use of an ancient DC-3, along with other security requests, was being denied, on May 7, 2012, the State Department authorized the U.S. Embassy in Vienna to purchase a $108,000 electric-vehicle charging station for the embassy motor pool's new Chevrolet Volts.
(emphasis mine)
Obama and Biden lied; people died.
Actually, the charging station only cost $100K....the other 8K was for a cooling system. ;)

No doubt that they are aware of the 240V 50 hz system.
Many low power electronic devices today are designed for 120-240 VAC, 50-60 hz.
European plugs have round pins, but adapters are available.
No doubt, any electrical device sent to an embassy anywhere in the world will be adapted for use in that country.

The DC3 was popular for many reasons: she was larger, faster and more luxurious than previous planes, more economical to operate and safe. Stories of DC3 durability are legend around the world. Perhaps no other aircraft has been so historically abused and come off so well. Maybe the reasons the DC 3's are still flying as no-one has yet designed a better aircraft for the particular job being done. It is often said the only replacement for a DC3 is another DC3.

Well, it just said that they DID NOT receive a charger.
It does not say why.
There’s a race on.
What are we doing here????
