Based on the chatter on gun blogs and Internet forums, it looks like a groundswell is underway in Virginia to borrow a page from Napoléons playbook and vote to the sound of the guns. Thanks to a new law passed by the Virginia General Assembly and signed by Governor Bob McDonnell (R), all that it will take to vote in Virginia this year is a concealed handgun permit.
This means no photo is required to vote . . .

I’ve never needed a photo ID to vote in VA. I just use my voter ID card.
I didn't even need that last time, I just told her my address.
I did have to show photo ID to the clerk of court to get my CWP. (twice actually once when I turned in the paperwork and second when I went to pick it up)
VA Ping!
If you want on/off the VA Ping List, please freepmail me. Thanks!
I’m sure the little old volunteer ladies at my voting place wouldn’t insist on an ID.
Pull out your id anyway and then act SHOCKED that they don’t need to see it. Throws ‘em off....
Ask me how I know..... ;)
They’re not exactly - but close to - volunteers and they are required to ask for ID. I’d prefer they do their job as they were trained to do. Don’t like the idea of someone just showing up to vote without any verification of their ID.
My FL permit also has my photo on it.........

The ‘irony’ here is that you need a picture ID to get a CCP and/or Voter ID card.
AND on the CCP it also states “Must be carried with proper photo ID”
And, Sam’s Club, COSTCO, and BJ’s have photo IDs.....
Iowa permits do too.
So does my TX CHL...
Um, no, not in virginia - no photo ID required to obtain a CHP nor register to vote.
