DISCOVERING GOD
Tomorrow many will enjoy a day off to celebrate Columbus Day. Columbus day is a legal holiday that we, as North Americans along with Latin Americans, celebrate the landing of Columbus in the Bahamas in 1492. Because of this discovery, a country, the United States of America, would come into existence based upon a pursuit of God Jehovah and the right to worship as we please. "Admiral Byrd, the explorer, one day was passing through the lobby of a hotel when a large company of people commenced cheering him. Two men were joining in the salutation, when one was overheard remarking to the other: 'He is the last of the explorers; there is nothing left for the rest of us to explore." Little did they realize that as we face a new millennium we would be standing on the edge of discovering new worlds and the world in which we live. The same can be said of God. We might think we know the story and everything there is in our relationship with the Creator of all that is to be discovered, but spiritually, we have just begun to see and know what God can be and do in our lives. It all tends to come into focus when you are standing on the top of the Rocky mountains at night looking out into space at the stars that are as numerous as the sands of the sea, or on the bow of a ship when the moon is cutting a path before you in the blackened waters of an endless ocean. You begin to understand how little we know about the mysteries of God when you hold a newborn child as the morning sun's rays break through your window, bathing you in the newness of a new day. As the Queen of Sheba said of Solomon's Kingdom, "But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told me....". We only know in part. So, let us purpose to discover, see for ourselves, and know more of the God that lives within us and begin to claim His many promises for us. Let us, by faith, sail the old ship of salvation into the horizon of the Holy Word and find a greater love and knowledge of our God and Messiah. Remember, "...we are all in the same boat with Christopher Columbus. He didn't know where he was going when he started. When he got there he didn't know where he was, and when he got back he didn't know where he had been". The moral of the story being, "Just do it." God will bless you in your spiritual journey and you will always find Him there.

Still Bearing Fruit
October 7, 2012
Sometimes the harvest comes late. Sometimes you sow seeds of hope without really knowing it. Sometimes the fruit of your life comes in a way and time you would never expect.
My daughter Melissa had accepted Gods gift of salvation at a young age. But she never saw herself as some great Christian who could change lives. She was just a high school junior trying to cope with a job, school, and sports while balancing friendshipsjust a kid trying to live as God would want her to.
Yet, in 2002 when He welcomed her into heaven when she was just 17, her faith in Christ and her faithful life stood on their own. No advance warning. No time to make things right with others. No new opportunities to bear much fruit (John 15:8).
Melissa tried to live in a way that was pleasing to Godand her life is still bearing fruit. Just recently, I heard of a young person who trusted Jesus as Savior at a sports camp after a coach shared Melissas story.
All of us are writing a story with our livesone that affects others now and in the future. Are we living to please God? We dont know when the Lord will call us Home. Lets live every day with an eye on the harvest.
Only the truth that in life we have spoken,
Only the seed that on earth we have sown;
These shall pass onward when we are forgotten,
Fruits of the harvest and what we have done. Bonar
A fruitful harvest requires a faithful life.

Prayers needed for a WWII Vet.....from FReeper Eva.
From Eva
I got a call from my daughter, this morning, telling me that her father-in-law (who is a lot older than my husband and I) was taken to the hospital, following a fall down the steps, with a broken back. He had to be air-lifted to a hospital in Reno. (They were in Tahoe, when it happened.)
Anyway, Im posting this here because he is a WWII vet, who was wounded at Normandy. He had lied about his age to enlist and was sent immediately to Normandy, where he was shot in the legs. He laid in a ditch throughout the whole battle and was given up for dead. He was rescued the next morning by a French woman, who took him home and nursed him until he could be picked up by the red cross. He had no memory of the battle or being rescued until he was in his late seventies and the old war wounds started acting up, and it all came flooding back. He has been suffering from PTSD ever since.
Its been very rough going for him and now things dont look good at all.
Anyway some prayers might be in order for this brave old soldier, Robert Collins.

Dear God:
I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman,
Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, or National Guardsman
Feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For with the Lord there is loving kindness,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And He will redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

![]( http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i25/Conormacnessa/FReep/tealscrollbar.gif ) Good evening, Kathy!
***HUGS***
A Blessed Lords Day to you and yours! Thank you very much for tonights Sunday Chapel thread.
"You begin to understand how little we know about the mysteries of God when you hold a newborn child as the morning sun's rays break through your window, bathing you in the newness of a new day.
This sentence resonates strongly with me. I have been present for the births of all six of my children. I cant think of any experience in my life that compares to seeing ones newborn child emerge, take his or her first breath, and pink up as the oxygen flows into the bloodstream. It is one of many of my life experiences that reinforce my belief in God.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
![]( http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i25/Conormacnessa/FreedomofConscience-TomJefferson-5aug2012.jpg)
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. "
![](http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i25/Conormacnessa/Americana/bill-of-rights.jpg)
![](http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i25/Conormacnessa/Americana/draft_lens2186435module11647085photo_1222040148Norman_Rockwells_The_Four_Freedoms_-_Freedom_of_Religion.jpg)
Our Founding Fathers secured this essential freedom against overwhelming odds through great adversity, securing it first with the blood of our Patriots shed in the War of the Revolution, then through the course of intense and extended debate, leading finally to the adoption of the Bill of Rights.
This cherished Freedom is under attack now, not only by the media, not only by academia, but by the Executive Branch of the United States Government itself. The President and Department of Justice have abdicated their sworn duty to uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. They have instead, with full knowledge of the enormity of their acts, systematically betrayed the American People in repeated transgressions and usurpations, thereby assuming the role of principal domestic enemy in what will be the defining Constitutional struggle of our times.
We are called at this crucial moment to bear Witness to the Truth of God, to uphold and to defend this vital, First Freedom and the Freedoms that derive from it. Without Freedom of Conscience, what substantive Freedom could we continue to enjoy?
