UCLA probably thought this song to be an appropriate farewell tune to be played at the conclusion of games. I don't think Vera Lynn is a UCLA Bruin fan--and being a fan of both Vera Lynn and the USC Trojans, I certainly hope she isn't.
I'm curious as to how their DJ learned of this recording. Vera Lynn's 1939 version of "We'll Meet Again" was virtually unknown in the US, although some acts such as Dick Jurgens & His Orchestra and the Ink Spots scored with the song in 1941. Katherine "Kate" Smith also had a hit with it in 1942. The '39 version is still not nearly as well known as her 1953 recording of the tune, featured n the movie Dr.Strangelove.
